Review: India Palace Restaurant in German Town Near Washington DC

I am fond of eating outside in the fine dining restaurants serving various types of food delicacies. We went for a family party during last weekend at the India Palace restaurant, which is situated at Fox Chappell Shopping Center, 19743, Fredrick Road, German Town, MD-20876. We had gone for the dinner in a group of twelve people. As most of us were fond of the authentic Indian food, we selected India Palace restaurant based on the recommendations of our friends and relatives. We did book our table in advance as it was a weekend.

We reached at the restaurant at 7.30 pm and were taken to our table immediately. The restaurant was found nicely decorated with the beautiful wall paintings of the most beautiful places of India. The sitting chairs were also quiet comfortable. Two circular tables were arranged for our group of twelve. As we had young children in our group, the high chairs were also supplied promptly by the restaurant staff. The menus were presented and we were pleasantly surprised to see the varieties of drinks on that menu. Even the alcoholic drinks were available in almost all the famous varieties in an Indian restaurant. We went for a bottle of red wine to begin with. The restaurant staff supplied the masala papads on the house as the appetizer along with the drinks. The starters were also available in at least 12 varieties. We ordered mixed vegetarian combo as the appetizer. It was a large dish consisting of samosa, patties, cutlet, and the mix vegetables pakodas. The two plates of appetizers were sufficient for our group of twelve. The varieties of veg and non veg soups were also available in the menu. However, we did not order them as our drinks and the appetizers were good enough as starters.

We went for ordering the main dishes after that. The varieties in main dishes were amazing and was consisting of vegetarian, chicken, lamb, fish, sea food, and the Indian Chinese dishes. The prices for all these main dishes were in the range of $11 to $25. We went for 3 varieties of vegetarian dishes and ordered 2 of each variety. The Malai Kofta, Sag Paneer, and the Baigan Bharata were the items ordered by us. The six main dishes were quiet sufficient for our group of twelve. The items were very delicious and not spicy at all. The pea's rice was served with each vegetarian main order free of cost. The rotis, nans, and many types of paraunthas were on the menu. We selected the complete bread basket consisting of all types of breads in one order. Couples of curds were also included in our order. The rotis and paraunthas were served steaming hot. The vegetarian main dishes served were also kept on the fire so as to keep them hot during the whole dinner. It took around 45 minutes to serve the main items of the dinner, which was slightly too long in view of the small children in our group. The drinking water was also served in nice jugs and it was chilly as per our requirement. As soon as we completed our dinner, we thought of ordering the desert items that were available in many varieties. However, restaurant management served us the most tasty desert item of Rice Kheer on the house. It was very delicious and was not too sweet, which was liked by us all. Some of us ordered the most prestigious items of the restaurant in the end. This was the mango lassi and the rose lassi. These lassis were simply great and were available at the rate of $8 per glass. The restaurant was serving the desert items at the charges of around $3 per plate. All in all our experience of this restaurant India Palace was very satisfying. This restaurant serves a wonderful buffet lunch at lunch time between 12 noon to 3 pm. This buffet lunch is charged $10 on week days and $12 on weekend and public festivals.

We all liked this restaurant as we had not taken authentic Indian food since long. As the restaurant belongs to a Punjabi group, the Punjabi food delicacies were simply superb and we have decided to visit this restaurant again very soon may be to try their famous buffet lunch. The total bill for our entire group of twelve was around $200 inclusive of all the taxes. This amount can be considered reasonable based on the authentic Indian food items we all were able to taste.

I would strongly recommend all my AC friends to try this Indian fine dining restaurant at least once, particularly to those who love to try authentic Indian food delicacies in Punjabi style.
