Review of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

To begin I want to say that there have been a lot of reviews saying that this didn't hold up to the originals. Well let me clarify for you who believed those lies, what is Indiana Jones, well when I hear that title I immediately think excitement, adventure, completely unrealistic action, and above all a whole lot of fun, but the people that went to see this movie had their minds set on the best of story's and were therefore disappointed, I went to the cinema expecting action and I got it by the bucket full.

Now that we've covered that lets move on to other subjects for now the actors. I must say I thought Shia LaBeouf stole the show, his acting which is first class then mixed with the character of mutt, makes for a wholly funny and smooth character, adding the greaser style which in my opinion there is no better, and voile you've got it. He had a lot to hold up to, being Indys son and all but he pulls it off with flare and style and by the end you want to watch a movie just about Henry Jones the 3rd .

Besides Shia LaBeouf we have Harrison Ford who once again comes in and brings you the wit and charm of Indiana Jones. Even though he's 66 years old he's still jumping around and fighting the bad guys, And showing the world Indiana is still around. Of course he isn't as young as he used to be and the movie takes place about 20 years later then the last, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have the same flare as it predecessors in fact I think its a lot better then "the Temple of Doom" and around the same as the other two, but through them all Harrison Ford shines like a beacon of light, and makes me want to become an archaeologist.

Next we have Cate Blanchette who sadly didn't shine like the other actors but who still puts on an honest performance, she did well with what she was given and still holds the pieces together. Her character Irina Spalko a Russian Communist, who is trying to steal objects that will help the communist war, is knowledge hungry and we see this through out the film, although I wouldn't necessarily call her evil, just a little stupid.

Karen Allen comes back on the screen as Mutts mother, she isn't as pretty as she used to be and has aged quite a bit, but she's still got her wild side that makes her a perfect match for Indy.

Then we have the supporting cast who all do rather well, from Ray Winston, to Jim Broadbent, and John Hurt. Ray Winston plays George McHale a double crossing friend of Indy, he pulls his weight in the film and keeps you guessing which side he really is on.

After that theirs Jim Broadbent who portrays Dean Charles Stanforth, now while his scenes are short he still gives us some humour and you remember him way after the movie is over.

Finally John Hurt gives us a splendid show as the Professor Oxley, who after gazing in the crystal skull went a little cuckoo. He comes along for the ride and is quite a funny character.

So now that we've covered the actors lets go over the Plot. Now I'm sad to say they failed a lot here, putting the whole alien thing in an Indian Jones doesn't work so well, as Indiana is an architect and aliens aren't exactly old news. But for most of the movie the plot is thick and fun with danger and surprises at every turn. One thing however that I really like about Indiana Jones is how he doesn't rely on gadgets but instead uses his own cunning to help him.

Last we have the special effects which were a bit over the top, but hey that's an Indian Jones for you. I went to the cinema wanting to watch him stuck in a fridge while a nuclear bomb blows up around him, or going down three giant waterfalls in a car, that's real fun. Some people complain about this and say it was stupid and ridiculous, well I say go watch a movie about some boring little man and his boring old life, who finally decides to talk to the girl of his dreams and live happily ever after, and leave us action freaks to our movie.

Cause that's what this film is a whole load of action.
