Review of The International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play - Advanced Beach and Sand Fun for Toddlers

Arthur Kirk
Is your toddler getting tired of playing with thier standard old bucket and pail set? Well, there is a set of sand toys by I-Play that can help them have fun in the sand. It is the International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play. The great thing about this set of sand toys is that they have multiple uses and allow your toddler to use his or her creativity in the sand. Thousands of families will be heading to the beach this summer, and for those of you that have toddlers, I highly recommend the International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play, my son loves his set. There are toys that allow you to build with sand in the set, and also to transport water and allow your child's imagination to run wild.

The International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play includes five different pieces. These pieces include a bucket, a mill that can be used with sand or water, a watering can, a shovel, a scoop, and a rake. Too often with these "sets" of sand toys you find that the only new piece of equipment your child is getting is the bucket. As parents, I'm sure you have more plastic toy shovels and rakes floating around your house than you know what to do with. The buckets though tend to get lost at the beach, or turn up missing at home. This International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play not only includes the bucket, but also a sand and water mill that your child can either dump sand into the top or water and watch the wheels rotate as the sand powers the wheel. This is great for toddlers as sand toys with moving parts can engage my son for hours at the beach. Add on top of that a second toy that can transport water with the watering can and all of a sudden this is a set your child can share with a friend. We all know as parents that our toddlers end up fighting over the buckets that come with these sets.

Speaking of buckets, the bucket that comes with the International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play isn't just a bucket. It also can be used as a sand castle mold. I have found as many of you probably have that neither dry sand or mud work in these molds. My suggestion is to help your toddler scoop the wet sand he or she finds on the beach into the bucket for the International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play. Once it is full, help them flip the bucket over. Here is where the other toys including the shovel, scoop, and rake that come with the International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play show their second use. Use these to lightly tap on the bucket before lifting it. Have your child do the tapping, and then lift the bucket and the mold works great. My son loves the little sand castle he can create using the bucket from the International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play as a mold.

I do have one issues with the International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play, the pieces are not very sturdy. One of my son's friends stepped on the rake the first day we had the set and it broke. Yes, these are children's toys and are not industructable, but other sets I have owned have been more sturdy. At $18 for the set I would have hoped it would have been a little more sturdy. My suggestion with the International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play is that you buy it for your toddler or child who is slightly older before going to to the beach. As a parent, I would suggest expecting most of the set not to make it home from the beach. The bucket and watering can will probably last all summer, but the other pieces can break easily, including the sand/water mill. As aparent you have to decide if the $18 investment is worth keeping your child entertained at the beach for a week.

  • The International Playthings Castle Bucket Set by I-Play has a bucket and a watering can.
  • The bucket can double as a sand castle mold.
  • Don't forget about the sand/water mill, this is a great toy while it lasts before breaking.
The shovel in this set is smaller than in many other sand toy sets I have seen, so having an extra one around when you purchase this set isn't necessarily a bad thing.
