Review of the Iron Gym Pull-up Bar

If you are like me, you see these "AS SEEN ON TV" workout items and think, "Oh, here we go again with the latest exercise gimmick." Well in this article I had a chance to review the Iron Gym Pull-up Bar which is a portable pull-up bar that you can easily hang from any door frame without any nails, screws, or tools of any kind. I don't know about you but I had doubts that my tiny door frames could support my weight.

My first impression from just looking at the Iron Gym Pull-up Bar was that there was no way this contraption would be able to support my body weight from the weak door frame, but to my surprise I was wrong. Not only did it support my weight, it also held up my 250 lb friend. It has two gripping options you can choose from so you can decide to go with a standard grip or a side grip pull-up. Setting up the Iron Gym Pull-up Bar is just as easy as it looks on the commercial. With no hardware required all you do is simply place the Iron Gym Pull-up Bar over the door frame and get to work. As with any other doorway pull-up bar you will have to pull your legs up to get a full range of motion, but that isn't a problem at all. This device is a little pricey starting at $30 especially when you compare other doorway pull-up bars at $20. Of course, this one is much easier to put up and take down as each process requires no tools.

The Iron Gym Pull-up Bar has optional arm straps that you can buy to hold you up so you can do hanging leg raises, though I cannot review the arm straps because I did not try them. I am curious how well the arm straps work for hanging leg raises. Overall this is a much more expensive item that gets its value from the ease of set up and its portability which allows you to take the pull-up bar down quickly and easily when you are having company. This is a product that you can casually use or even incorporate into your exercise routine.

I can't write this in the third person... I just can't. To do so would make me feel like a douche big enough to accommodate Madonna. My articles are a change of pace from what you can expect anywhere else. M...  View profile
