This game was last updated on August 31, 2010, the new updates are; new bonuses and power ups and the ability to pause the game by touching anywhere on the screen. The newest version is 1.1. This game is played in portrait mode while titling your device from side as your rocket ship ascends skyward towards space.
Upon launch of the game the games title "Up and Away" is displayed along with the high score and the person's name who owns the high score. You can use the music associated with the game or you have a choice to mute it, just touch the music note in the bottom right hand corner and it will mute the music. The music is a happy sounding acoustical guitar but it can get annoying after a while. The word "Play" is displayed in the middle of the screen, touch the word and begin collecting stars to move upward, each time you catch a star it makes a ringing bell sound. The more stars you catch the more they are multiplied for points. Your score is displayed in the bottom left hand corner
If you miss a star you can float back down and grab another one, it will push you up higher to get to another star. The stars are placed in random order so the pattern constantly changes. The newer version has power ups that give you more points and can make your spaceship bigger. The red stars give you +500 points and the green plus sign will make your space ship bigger so you can capture more stars. Your spaceship will shrink back down to original size after a few moments, you can also pick up parachutes that will allow you to parachute back down slowly so you can maneuver to grab a star on the way down to be pushed up higher once again.
The back ground changes from a cloud filled sky to outer space and will stay that way until you miss a star and fall back to earth, when you do your spaceship will shrink as it falls while making a funny sound. As you collect stars words will appear on the screen such as "Nice", "Great" and "Amazing" prompting you to keep playing.
Ten minutes of game play will use 5% of your battery life. This app is also played in a full screen mode meaning you will not be able to see the time or how much battery life you have left. Since this is a free app you will see advertisements at the top of the screen, they do not affect game play. This game is fun because you are constantly trying to beat your own high score or a member of your families' high score.
