Review of iTunes Application "FallDown!"

This is a free app. It can be located under the category of Games in the iTunes store. The download data is 1.6 MB. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch and the new iPad. This game is best played on an iPhone or iPod touch. It requires iOS 3.0 or later to play.

This game is played by titling your device from side to side while holding it in portrait mode. Your score is located at the top left hand corner, lines move upward while you try to maneuver the red ball and fall down through available slots. The game begins slowly but picks up speed as you move from color to color. The neon colors in order are green, pink, blue, yellow and turquoise; the colors change roughly every 75 points.

During game play you will be able to roll over circled question marks for power ups and additional points. Some of the question marks are worth more than others. Some of the symbols you will see are; (+5), (>>>>), and a (*). Once you roll over the question mark it will float to the top of the screen and disappear. You can pause the game by touching any part of the screen; you can also unpause it the same way.

The (+5) power up gives you five extra points; it makes the noise of a cash register when you get it. The (>>>>) power up speeds up your ball to move faster through the gaps, it makes the warp sound. The (*) power up stops game play for about ten seconds allowing you to make your way to the bottom of the game to rest, don't go all the way to the bottom because it will activate the game and you will not get as long to rest. It makes a whoosh sound. The game itself makes a "boink" sound when you drop through the gaps. You can mute it or silence your phone to avoid the game sounds.

Once you have exhausted all the moves available your red ball will move to the top of the screen and be squished. Your score will be posted after you are squished. The top five are displayed. You can type in your name or screen name for added bragging rights. To play again, just touch the cursive neon writing titled "Back" and then touch "Play" to begin playing again. If you touch the word "Clear" it will ask if you want to erase all the high scores.

There are instructions on how to play to game when you activate the icon and you can even view the global high scores. If you are confident enough you can post your best score online. Ten minutes of game play uses about 5% of your battery life. This is one of the more addictive games because you can play for a long time and never get tired of trying to beat the posted scores. This app also uses a full screen, meaning, you will not be able to see what time it is or how much battery life still exists.
