I really love oatmeal, so much so that I can eat it for breakfast 6 days out of the week and not get tired of it. So I was happy to see that Jamba Juice was now making a version with fruit because I don't add all the trimmings when I make oatmeal at home. I usually just eat it plain. I also wanted a convenient and filling breakfast to eat every once in awhile whenever I didn't feel up to cooking breakfast.
I had long gotten tired of Jamba Juice smoothies, I think they're a little overrated because the flavors are kind of blah to me. So when I ordered their Apple Cinnamon Steel Cut Oats the following day I honestly didn't have high expectations for it. But after tasting it, I loved it.
The Jamba Juice Apple Cinnamon Steel Cut Oatmeal comes in a 9oz cup and costs $3.45. It contains steel oats, soymilk, an apple cinnamon topping (which contains milk), and a brown sugar crumble (which contains wheat and milk).
It has 290 calories, 4g of fat, 60g of carbohydrates, 5g of fiber, 25g of sugar, 8g of protein and 4% of the daily value of calcium, 10% of vitamin D, 8% of vitamin C, and 15% of iron.
The oatmeal is good because the steel oats have been slow cooked and are soft and chewy. The apples are cut into small pieces and seem like they've been baked so they are soft but still firm and they have a slight tangy flavor to them.
The apples are lightly dusted with cinnamon so you get that strong spicy hint of flavor, but it's not overwhelming. And the brown sugar crumble that's been sprinkled on top is divine. It's hard and a little chunky and it just makes the oatmeal sweet and gives it a crunchy texture.
I like my oatmeal a bit thicker, but overall I really enjoyed all of the flavors in this Jamba Juice oatmeal. The flavors were balanced and delicious and I thought it was a hearty but sweet way to start the morning. I don't really buy their smoothies anymore, so the Apple Cinnamon Steel Cut Oatmeal has definitely made me a regular Jamba Juice customer again.
I recommend it to anyone who like apples and oats, and who wants a quick and delicious breakfast to get them through the day. I give it 4.5 out 5 stars.
