Review: Jane Blush Stix in "Shimmering Peach"

The Pen
Last week I had to pick up a few items from Walgreen's and I noticed that there was a big sale for Jane products going on. I haven't bought anything by Jane in years, but since everything was going for dirt cheap I suddenly became interested in the brand. I decided to buy the Blush Stix, which is a solid cream blush, in a shade called Shimmering Peach.

Price of
Jane Shimmering Peach Blush Stix

One 4oz tube cost $1.99 on sale, I'm not sure what the regular price is because it wasn't it wasn't posted on the display, but it probably retails for around $5-$7.

Ingredients in
Jane Shimmering Peach Blush Stix

The blush is apart of Jane's Be Pure Collection. It contains castor seed oil, carnauba wax, octyldodecanol, jojoba seed oil, caprylic / capric triglycerides, dicaprylyl carbonate, beeswax, cetyl palmitate, candelilla wax, cetearyl alchohol, tocopherol, lavender oil, and lauryl lysine.

The beige tube it comes in is wide and stumpy. It's plain except for a clear wrapper that falls away once it's opened, so the packaging is kind of depressing. Since the tube isn't c-thru I bought the Shimmering Peach based on the peach sticker attached to the bottom of it.

I was worried that the color would be too light to show up against my brown skin (I have a caramel colored skin tone similar to Rihanna's) but when I opened the tube the blush was a dark golden pink shade, so I expected it to work.

When I applied it to my cheeks, it smelled of lavender, and the color looked like a shimmery rose, but once I blended it in it looked like the Shimmering Peach that it claimed to be. The Stix was only a shade darker than my cheeks so it didn't seem like I was wearing any blush at all, which defeated the whole purpose of me applying it.

The shimmer in this did show up though, it's fine and silvery, and it gave me a dewy glow.

Texture of
Jane Shimmering Peach Blush Stix

The blush is solid and firm in the tube, but it's very moist so it easily glides across the skin. Once it's on it feels light and whipped, not greasy, so it blended into my skin easily without feeling heavy.

The shimmery glow lasted all day, but I think the peach color faded after a couple of hours because I couldn't see it all.

In the End...

I liked how convenient it was to use the Blush Stix, it literally takes a few seconds to apply, and the light, creamy texture was great. But the Shimmering Peach shade wasn't dark enough for me to wear, and shimmery blushes aren't really my thing so I won't be using this product again.

I'd recommend the Shimmering Peach color to women with fair and olive skin tones, but skip it altogether if you have oily skin. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
