Review: Jean-Paul Gaultier Fashion Line Opens at Target

Jean Paul Gaultier, known for his unusual and playful designs, has just opened his spring fashions at Target stores.

Mr. Gaultier has done such a fantastic job blending the retro - look and the trendy, along with shabby chic and debonair; and has produced a line of clothing that women of all ages want to have in their spring wardrobe. His use of bright and vivid color, along with bold patterned florals hasn't been done with such success since the 60's. Who else but Jean Paul Gaultier could take a piece of gingham, turn it into a bustier, and have ladies of all ages lined up to pay $29.99 for it.

Gaultier has a trench coat that I haven't yet added to my spring wardrobe, but it is a classic cut and design, and the cost is only $59.99.

Jean Paul Gaultier has a lot of dresses in his spring clothing line, but the one that I just had to have was, the halter dress with the full skirt. He has many other dresses of slightly different design, but I am tall, so it was the one that was most figure - flattering. I can wear it with pumps to work, and be quite professional looking, or with heels to church, and be quite dressed up. I saw the dress displayed with Converse, and it was really cute. Mr. Gaultier is well known for his use of Converse, so of course it looked good.

With Spring Break coming up, no spring wardrobe would be complete without swimwear, and Target definitely has an extensive line of Jean Paul Gaultier swimwear. From the outlandish tattoo - print two piece swimwear to the glamorous, metallic one piece swimsuit there is a lot to choose from, and they were only $34.99.

I am a big fan of Jean Paul Gaultier fashions. In my opinion, one quality that sets his fashions apart from other clothing lines, is the fact that his fashions seem to be ageless. It doesn't matter if you're 20 or 60 the designs seem to go with the woman wearing them, without looking improper, or out of place. Another reason I like his clothing as much as I do, is the models he uses at his exhibitions; they seem to be just average people. His use of older, and full - figured models makes him aces in my book, and the fact that his clothes are affordable, gives us average women the ability to have designer clothes in our closet for our spring wardrobe.
