Review of Jet Airways, the Most Popular Domestic Airlines of India

Many private airlines have started operating in India recently in view of the global competition policy of Indian government. There was a time in India when only one airline was operating in the entire India that was owned by government of India and was called Indian Air Lines. There was no competition to this airline and hence, the tourists had no option but to travel through this airline even if they dislike it. The time has now changed and there are around 8 other private airlines operating in India like Decan Air ways, Go Air, King Fisher, Spice Jet, Jet airways etc. I had an opportunity recently to travel from Mumbai to Vadodara by Jet Airways, the most popular private domestic air line of India. I am presenting a brief review on my experience of travel through Jet Airways.

The flight was to start from Mumbai at 5.50 AM in the morning for Vadodara. The check in process was started by the airline exactly at 4.30 AM. There were around 6 counters for the check in. You can get checked in at any of these counters. The special check in counter is also provided at the Mumbai International airport just after the customs clearance for the international travelers so as to make them free of their baggage. The check in was quite quick and we were able to get rid of our unaccompanied baggage by handing it over to the airline staff. The seat choice was also offered to us and our request was fulfilled for the seats. We proceeded for the security check immediately after check in. The security check counters are also different for Jet airways at Mumbai. Make sure to go to the counter of Jet airways only for the security check. As soon as you enter the waiting lounge after the security check, you will be amazed to see the beautiful, spacious, and cool waiting terminal of Jet airways. The seats were of push back type and very comfortable. The large size jumbo TV sets were operating at around 8 places in the terminal showing the most popular IBN news channel of India. Even the restrooms of this waiting lounge were extremely clean, hygienic, and equipped with the good quality soaps for hands and face wash. You can take a bath and shave also in these restrooms as there is an arrangement of hot water and an electric plug for your electrical shaver. The flight boarding was also started exactly before 30 minutes of the departure time.

The passengers were taken to the aircraft by luxury air-conditioned buses. The air hostesses were greeting the travelers with a smile and were helping to place the hand baggage on overhead shelves, mainly to senior citizens. The flight took off exactly on time. The safety drill and the demonstration was also very effective and not as dull routine as found in many airlines. As soon as we were safely air- borne and the fasten seat belts sign was switched off by the captain, the staff came in to action and started serving the most lavish breakfast to all the passengers. The fresh lime juice bottles were served in the beginning that is a trade mark of Jet airways. The choice of non-vegetarian breakfast was also available, which consisted of eggs preparation of your choice. The excellent south Indian cuisines like idly, sambhar, and dosas were served with the fruit bowl and the tasty sweet piece in vegetarian breakfast. The tea and coffee were served at the end. All this service was completed in flat 30 minutes only as the total flight time was only 50 minutes. The aircraft was also brand new and the interiors were shining brightly. The seats were spacious and having good leg space. The passengers were allowed to get down from both front and the rear gate so as to save time at Vadodara. All the passengers were able to get hold of their baggage in flat 20 minutes of their landing at Vadodara.

The experience of flying through jet airways was very pleasant all throughout. The tariff of the air ticket between Mumbai and Vadodara was Rs.3600 ($90) per head. Though this is comparatively higher as compared with other domestic airlines, it was worth it. The Jet Airways have recently started international flights to London and New York without any stoppage for passengers. Only one technical stop is taken at Brussels for around an hour for fueling during their flight to New York.

I would strongly recommend all my AC friends to travel by Jet airways while in India for the most pleasant and memorable flight experience.
