Jose Ole makes several fairly decent mini frozen Mexican foods such as mini tacos, empanadas and taquitos. Recently I was browsing the frozen food aisle of my local Kroger's, in an search for some easy to prepare quick snacks. My schedule as been hectic lately and school is ready to begin for the year. My time has become even more valuable and limited. Jose Ole mini beef and cheese tacos caught my eye. I was slightly disturbed by the seven dollar per box price tag, considering that was the sale price. I thought seven dollars for 18 tacos on sale... these mist be pretty good. I had tried Jose Ole mini tacquitos and I enjoyed them so I did not hesitate to purchase a box of these mini tacos as an alternative to actually making my own meal. I thought they would be a lot better than they actually are, but they are not that bad. I was not crazy about the taco shell, in my opinion Jose Ole mini taco shells simply tasted cheap. In my opinion, this product just is not worth the seven dollar price tag. I would maybe pay four or even five dollars and be happy with the price, when you consider the quality. Especially when you consider Taco Bell makes much better tacos at a price of less than one dollar. Or for seven dollars you could make your own fresh tacos.
If you love burritos, I would recommend the Marquee brand of individual, full size frozen burritos. At my house the brown packaged, beef and bean burrito is a staple. These frozen burritos are tasty as is, or you can dress them up with cheese, hot sauce, sour cream or onion. Basically whatever your heart desires. The price of Marquee frozen burritos is less than fifty cents per burrito on average and they make a tasty and filling meal if you are eating in a hurry, or even on a tight budget. Marquee individual frozen burritos are the best on the market in my opinion and I would recommend them to anyone who likes burritos fresh or frozen.
As for the Jose Ole line of frozen Mexican quick snacks, the mini tacos are okay, but the taquitos and empanadas are much better.
