The Junction is located in a new shopping plaza, near Lake Park and Gaither High School. It is locally owned and operated. Just walking in, you automatically feel more relaxed and at home in the cool, comfortable little cafe. The ice cream is against the left wall near a few chairs and a comfortable couch, and the right side to the back of the store is lined with big, squishy booths to relax. The employees are nice and never rush you to make a decision while you peruse the many different types of gourmet ice cream, including strawberry cheesecake (my favorite), java chip, and other fun flavors like ones "Marcia Mellow" and "Cherry Seinfeld." All are extremely delicious, and very reasonably priced. While other places, like Coldstone, can charge up to four dollars for just a cup of ice cream, the Junction gives you heaping portions in a cone for less than three dollars. The best part about all of it, the ice cream they carry, Old Meeting House, is all natural and homemade! Considering all of the weird things that can be lurking in dairy products these days, it's nice to know that some places make an effort to avoid you growing an extra ear because of the ice cream you eat.
The Junction is a great place to go and unwind with your friends, especially if you need to catch up. I have never been there when it was busy, and there's always a laid back, relaxed and still somehow fun atmosphere to the whole place. The Junction is appealing to most any group of people. Whether you're health-conscious, or business oriented, the Junction offers something for you. There is fat free, sugar free ice cream for those watching their weight, and even vegans can stop in for a cold treat because they have something most other ice cream places don't have, soy ice cream. The Junction also offers free Wifi if you want to go and hang out working on some homework, or if you want to drink some coffee and work on a business proposal. They also serve Mike's Pies, which I've never personally had, but I've heard from friends that they're absolutely amazing. There's such an extraordinary array of treats you can get!
The Junction is one of the few places you can go to simply hang out. They don't try to push you out, you're not surrounded by loud people, and you can even get some work done, for free, while being there. It's a great place to get delicious ice cream, and there is really nothing that will leave you wanting more. For a relaxed, family owned café in Tampa, Florida, Junction Ice Creamery and Coffee House definitely takes the cake ... or, pie and ice cream, as it may be.
