My wife and I have been married for 8 years and, in an effort to keep things from getting too routine, I do still go out of my way to surprise her with little gifts and like to use holidays as an excuse.
This past Sweetest Day (October 15), I surprised her with a bottle of Katy Perry Purr Perfume. This was something I saw her looking at earlier this month (Katy Perry is one of her favorite singers) and, even though the price tag was a little out of my budget, I decided it would be the perfect gift for her. And, so far, I think I'm right about that.
Even though it is obviously something I wouldn't wear myself, I have been purchasing various perfumes for my wife throughout our years together and, in doing that, have learned these purchases are as much about me (and what I like her to wear) as they are about her. And, because of that, I have discovered there are perfumes I like and plenty of perfumes I absolutely hate. This perfume falls into the former category.
One of my biggest concerns about perfumes is how strong they are; especially when I buy them without smelling them first (like this one). I have bought perfume for my wife in the past that was extremely overpowering; something I simply didn't think was all that attractive. That is not the case with this perfume. It has a lighter fragrance to it; one you can smell but only if you are closer to her (rather than across the room like with others). In other words, it's a bit more intimate.
Another thing I found I don't like about some perfumes is there are many that have a bit of an alcohol-like smell to them (I usually compare it to wearing rubbing alcohol). This is normally a problem with cheaper brands (the kind you find at a dollar store) but I have also found it in more expensive brands as well. However, again, this was not a problem with this perfume. Instead, it has a pleasant, citrus-like fragrance to it. I couldn't tell you exactly what it smells like. But, I do know it is a scent I don't mind at all.
If you are looking for a brand of perfume to wear or to buy for someone else, this is one I would recommend. I know I don't regret this purchase at all.
