First, I will describe some of the characteristics that make up the KIA Sorento. The Sorento is a Korean made vehicle, but it doesn't seem that different from an American vehicle. I have been driving an American vehicle(Chevrolet) since I turned sixteen, and the only difference I have noticed with the Sorento is that the gas tank is on the right side instead of the left. This has taken a little getting used to, but it's not that big of a deal.
The Sorento is a nice little truck that will surprisingly tow quite a load. The one I drive has hauled an average size boat with no problems whatsoever. The exterior and interior of the truck feels a little cheap, but it holds up quite well. The Sorento comes with standard airbags, and the usual safety features. However, I suspect that if you were in a serious accident the vehicle would be destroyed or severely damaged. But you would probably survive with minimal injuries, thanks to the airbags, seat belts; etc. Also, the bumpers are made of a fairly cheap metal and will dent quite easily.
Since the KIA Sorento is not very heavy and also an SUV, the rollover risk for this vehicle is quite high. I have noticed that the tires tend to lose traction fairly easily when it's raining, thanks to the vehicle being so light. So be sure and drive more carefully in the rain, especially on the highway. You may even want to try weighing the vehicle down with something.
The interior of the Sorento is fairly comfortable and spacious, but it may be albeit of a tight fit for larger individuals. There is plenty of room in the back seats for children, but again, adults may find them a little too tight. The back seats will fold down if you need them to, which will be useful for hauling larger items around.
The price is okay for this type of vehicle. Expect to pay around twenty to twenty five thousand dollars for a new Sorento. It also comes with a one hundred thousand mile or ten year warranty. However, don't trust the warranty too much. I recently had repairs done on my Sorento, and I had to pay about eleven hundred dollars out of my pocket. So the warranty doesn't cover everything, unfortunately.
Are you wondering about the gas mileage? Well, it isn't that great. The Sorento will get about fifteen miles to the gallon in the city, and twenty miles to the gallon on the highway. That's not very good for a small vehicle like this, but it is technically an SUV.
The KIA Sorento is a nice little vehicle that will take you where you want to go. However, if you want good gas mileage and something that has a decent chance of surviving an accident then look for another type of vehicle. If you're a college kid or looking for a cheap family car, then this is the vehicle for you.
