Review: Kitchen Cravings Chicken Sandwich

Steve Helmer
We had to run a bunch of errands Saturday afternoon and, since my parents couldn't watch them, we had the kids along for the ride.

I needed to put gas in my car and, since it was getting close to lunch (and I didn't want to waste time at a fast food restaurant), I decided to grab some things from the convenience store and just eat lunch in the car.

My wife and daughters got corn dogs but, since I have never been a big corn dog fan, I ended up grabbing something different; a chicken sandwich from Kitchen Cravings.

I have had other Kitchen Cravings items in the past and, with the exception of the grilled cheese (which I thought was a bit too plain); have been pretty happy with those purchases. As it turns out, the chicken sandwich wasn't an exception to that.

I will start out by saying, as far as meat is concerned, the chicken patty on this sandwich was likely lower quality than some others. When I bit into it, the meat was a little on the gray side rather than the white meat I normally prefer. Because of that, I don't know if this is something I would find myself eating on a regular basis.

However, that being said, the sandwich proved to be much better than expected.

First, taste wise, even though, as I said before, the patty was likely made from lesser quality meat, it wasn't too bad. I have had better. But, considering this cost me only about $2, there really wasn't much to complain about. I think part of that was the fact they covered the patty with cheese and that was higher quality than I expected.

The thing that won me over about this sandwich was it was very filling. I had this about 11:30 a.m., we went to several stores (including one grocery store) after eating it and I didn't find myself getting the least bit hungry. In fact, I wasn't hungry again until after 6. I have purchased similar items at fast food restaurants in the past and the only time I have had a similar feeling is when they made me sick (something this sandwich didn't do).

If you are out running errands and need something to eat, I would recommend stopping off at a local convenience store and looking for this product rather than going to a restaurant. It might not have been the best sandwich I have ever eaten but it was definitely worth the money.

Sodium content of sandwiches is a death sentence to people with high blood pressure. If the company kills us off, so will their business.
