Review: Komaneka at Monkey Forest Hotel in a Bali

If you are looking for a gorgeous hotel to stay at while in Ubud, Indonesia, consider the Komaneka at Monkey Forest. Rates vary greatly at this hotel because there are 10 individual villas as well as a larger building with 34 suites inside. This is a five-star hotel in Bali with a great location, beautiful rooms, and wonderful service.

If you choose to stay in one of the villas, you with have your own 12 meter long swimming pool. The suites share a half-olympic sized pool. At the resort, you will also fine and Indonesian restauratnt, a spa, and a wedding chapel.

The hotel is in a great location in the middle of Ubud. It overlooks the hills and Campuhan River. It is about a five minute walk to restaurants and shopping nearby since you are so near the center of the city. There are also many massage parlors nearby which is a nice way to treat yourself while on vacation. There is a car service available if you would like to Travel out of walking range.

The name Monkey Forest holds true as you will hear many animals, such as monkeys and roosters, in the surrounding area. I was woken up a couple times by the noise of all the animals but overall I thought it was very neat to have them nearby. You will also probably notice some geckos in your room but you should appreciate them because they eat bugs. Without them, there would be ants all over the place.

The main areas and guest rooms of the hotel are beautifully decorated. They are simply decorated with muted colors and bright accents. Our four-post bed even had a canopy! The bathroom was huge and we had a flat screen TV on the wall.

Since the hotel is so small, with a limited number of rooms, it never felt as though it was full. I saw more staff than other guests during my say. This made for a very peaceful stay.

The staff were very attentive and helpful. They were able to make suggestions of things for me to do since I had never been in the area before. They kept my room spotless during my stay and the entire hotel was very clean as well. Staff were able to remember my name from the first time we met. Water and cookies were always available if you wanted a snack. Tea was served each afternoon with samples of local foods.
