Review: Krista's Gourmet Favorites Sausage & Egg Breakfast Pizza

Steve Helmer
Yesterday morning, I decided to surprise my wife with breakfast in bed. My original intention was to make her eggs and bacon. However, as I was getting the eggs out of the fridge, I remembered we had a couple breakfast pizzas in the freezer and, realizing something like that wouldn't dirty as many dishes, decided to make one of those instead.

I'm not exactly sure where we got the Krista's Gourmet Favorites Sausage & Egg Breakfast Pizzas. I believe we bought them as part of my daughter's school fundraiser. But, after trying one yesterday, I have to say this is one of the best breakfast pizzas I have ever tried.

There were a couple of things I liked about this product. First of all, like most breakfast pizzas, it was an easy way to make breakfast. All I had to do was pop the frozen pizza in our oven and, even with waiting for the oven to preheat, it was done in less than 30 minutes (it would have been done faster if I would have used my pizza oven; but, for some reason, I completely forgot we had one).

Another thing I liked about this product was the number of toppings on the pizza. I have had plenty of other breakfast pizzas that seemed to skimp on the toppings. This one did not. There were plenty of eggs and sausage to go with the cheese and sauce. This not only succeeded in providing a flavor that was considerably better than other brands, it made the pizza much more filling as well. For example, my wife and I can normally finish off a breakfast pizza in one sitting. We had half of this one leftover for the next morning (and it was just as good, even after being warmed up in the microwave).

If there was one thing I didn't like about this product, it would be the crust. It was a thin crust, which is already something I'm not a huge fan of. And, more importantly, the crust didn't seem to get all that crisp. Plus, it didn't have a good flavor to it. It wasn't enough to make me hate it, but I definitely would have enjoyed it more if it had a better crust.

Overall, I feel this was a good investment. As I said before, this is one of the best breakfast pizzas I have ever tasted and I would definitely consider buying it again if given a chance.
