Review: Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog

Fun Way to Learn Letters, Colors, and Letter Sounds

Arthur Kirk
Is your child ready to be introduced to colors and letters? Well, then why not introduce them the fun way by having a smiling caterpillar introduce it to them. That is just what the Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog does. The Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog is a cute little purple caterpillar that will introduce the alphabet, colors, and alphabet sounds to your child. He even has a little string and wheels so your child can pull the Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog along with him or her anywhere your child goes. If your child pulls on the string, he will even hear the alphabet song sung by his new caterpillar pal.

There are three settings on the Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog, these are letters, numbers, and alphabet sounds. The Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog has 26 legs with a legger and number on each of those legs. Depending on the mode it is in, your child will hear something different each time he or she pushes on a leg. You can hear the caterpillar announce either a letter or number when your child presses on a caterpillar leg. Oh, and if you have a mischevious older child don't worry about the Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog being used for obscene fun. If the child presses the letter F, followed by the letter U in the letter announcing mode, the caterpillar giggles and doesn't announce the U. If you are using the letter sounds mode, and your child presses the S followed by the X, once again the caterpillar will just giggle instead of making the second sound.

These are the good features for parents. There are some negatives though about the Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog. When I received my caterpillar one of the legs didn't work, I felt fortunate though after researching the product on the internet. It seems there are a lot of people that have the same issue, but some with up to six legs not working. I do have to say I purchased mine from a consignment shop, so for only one leg to not work after another child had it as a toy that isn't too bad compared with the other stories I read. Another issue you might have to deal with is the difficulty in cleaning the Leap Frog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar by Leap Frog. If your child gets a sticky substance on one of the legs sometimes they stick when pressed, other times they bring multiple legs down at once. With how close the legs are, it can be difficult to remove the stick substance completely.

  • The caterpillar is a quite character.
  • It is funny how the manufacturer protects against use for hearing bad words.
  • Unfortunately clean up can be difficult.
I guess I should be happy that only one leg on my son's caterpillar sticks. He does have a lot of fun with it, so that's the important thing.
