Review: Leap Frog Fridge Magnetic Animal Set by Leap Frog

Can Entertain Your Child, Even when They Get the Animal Matches Wrong

Arthur Kirk
For a toddler, the last thing they want to be told is that they are wrong. Luckily for you and your child, the Leap Frog Fridge Magnetic Animal Set by Leap Frog doesn't do that. Instead it points out the mistakes in a fun way. The whole idea when your child plays with the Leap Frog Fridge Magnetic Animal Set by Leap Frog is to match up the two magnetic halves of each of the five animals on the magnets. When you child matches them correctly and places them on the magnetic barn, they will hear a song celebrating their accomplishment. If they do it incorrectly, they will hear a funny comment about the match they made.

There are five different animals included in the magnets in the Leap Frog Fridge Magnetic Animal Set by Leap Frog. Those animals include a cow, pig, horse, sheep and a duck. When you match the animals correctly the magnetic barn will play one of five banjo songs celebrating the correct matching of the pieces. If your child gets it incorrect they will hear something like "You made a cow-duck, that's funny". This way your child knows they didn't get it correct because they don't get the song to celebrate with, but the reinforcement is more positive than some toys that just give a loud buzzing sound when your child gets a match wrong.

My son loves this toy. He got it for Christmas when he was just over one year old and still plays with it now that he is almost three years old. The magnets are large enough that there is not choking hazzard with this toy. The magnets and the magnetic barn are extremely durable. My son has thrown that barn around the house and it still works just like new. The Leap Frog Fridge Magnetic Animal Set by Leap Frog is a great toy for children anywhere from ages one to three years old.

The Leap Frog Fridge Magnetic Animal Set by Leap Frog is great to use just as a musical device that attaches to the kitchen refrigerator. My son has been known to push the button with a frog on the barn with a banjo for almost a half hour in a row. Each time he pushed the button, one of the five different celebratory songs is played, even without getting a match. At $10-15 this is a great toy to have in your kitchen.

  • The goal is to match the magnetic halves to form one of five different animals.
  • How many times have you heard of a cow-sheep?
  • Your child can hear the music by pushing the frog button even without trying to make matches.
The volume control is a nice touch for parents who have heard the songs only 1,000 times too many.
