Review on the New Less Expensive Prime Lounge Menu at Ruth Chris Steak House

Fine Dining Does Not Have to Cost a Fortune

I love eating at Ruth Chris Steak House, especially since when I usually go I am going for business and can write it off. When I am taking my two teenagers out for dinner, however, price usually wins out over elegance.

I was given a one hundred dollar gift card to Ruth Chris by a business contact about a year ago. I have been putting off using it since it normally runs about 75 dollars or more per person for an entree, sides, soft drink, coffee and dessert. When I saw they came out with a less expensive menu if you eat in their lounge I immediately made a reservation to try it out with my kids.

My kids were all excited since they love steak but I told them before we went that we were only ordering off of the new menu. We were all eager to try it out.

After we were seated our lovely hostess brought out our sweet tea and a basket of warm, freshly made potato chips. They were delicious but my kids thought they were too dry. No dipping sauces or ranch dressing was served as they do in some other restaurants.

My son is not one to try new dishes so he ordered their "Who Dat Chicken Sandwich". He orders everything he eats without any sauce or mayo since he does not care for the taste. It comes with sweet potato fries or regular fries. He ordered it with regular fries. My daughter and I both ordered their "Ruth's Beef Tenderloin Cheese Steak Sandwich" with Sweet potato fries on the side.

They made my sons chicken sandwich with herbed butter so they had to bring him another one. It was so dry he would not finish it. We took it home for our doggies. He did eat the fries. Our cheese steak sandwiches were not on italian hero bread but rather on ciabatta bread with herb butter. Neither one of cared for the bread or the herb butter, but we ate it. The sweet potato fries were good.

Of course, you can order a sirloin burger, chicken caesar salad, sliders, Ahi tuna salad, crab cake sandwich, lobster mac and cheese or wild mushroom meatloaf. Next time I think I might try the prime sirloin burger.

For dessert I had the banana creme pie which I thought was too carmelized on top and bland. My daughter had the cheesecake and that was delicious. My son ordered the mango sorbet and was in heaven. He cleaned his dish! The desserts were at the regular price but we ordered them to try to use up the gift card. I still have enough left though to take my daughter back again since my son said he would not go back. He said the service was great, but the food was awful. That is from the mouth of a 16 year old boy.

Prices for meals on the prime lounge menu range from $10.95 to $19.95. Desserts run about $8.25 each. I know I will be back with clients and to use up my gift card. I definitely recommend Ruth Chris Steak House to adults. I think it is a great experience for teenagers but most would not appreciate it.

What an excellent review! It is disappointing to try new things and have them be ordinary or not too good. Ambience is nice, but not everything.
