An Action/puzzle Game

Level Editor is a flash animation action/puzzle game created by Newgrounds.com user Crash-512 and sponsored by Newgrounds.com user KingDotCom. This game was submitted to Newgrounds.com on November 10, 2009 and won a Daily Feature award on November 11, 2009.

Gameplay

The goal of each level is to reach the door. You can move around, place blocks, and get keys and coins while you try to reach the door. Once you reach a door, you can progress to the next level. The idea of editing levels must be taken into consideration if you are to progress far into the game. Alter your surroundings to help you reach doors to help you advance further.

There are a total of 40 levels, with increasing difficulty. The first few levels are very tutorial-like, helping you get through the basic key controls. The levels later on become quite difficult. The levels are grouped in groups of ten. The first ten are Easy, the second ten are medium, the third set of ten is Hard, and the last ten are labeled Impossible.

Your progress of the game is saved and can be seen in the level selection menu. Hovering over levels will show you a visual preview of the level, as well as how well you did on that level. Your total score is also listed. For each level, there is a star scoring system. You are given stars depending on how completely you finished a level. You can get all three stars for a level if you get all the coins, defeat all the enemies, and reach the door in that particular level.

For each level, you are given a number of different blocks, including moving blocks and replaceable blocks and a host of other kinds. You are not allowed to place blocks on other objects, like spikes. You can choose which block to use by selecting it on the right side of the screen.

Some blocks have timers, which will countdown the time until they disintegrate. Each level is also timed. The time remaining can be viewed on the right side of the screen.

Levels can also include enemies, which you must avoid.

At the end of each level, you are scored based on time left and coin value. You can get an All Coins Bonus if you collect all the coins in a level. You also get bonuses for killing enemies,
When you die, you are given two options. You can either See Solution, which will open a new page that will have the solutions to the game's levels, or you can Play Again.

Review

Level Editor is an extremely addicting and entertaining puzzle game. The game concept is creative, and the gameplay itself is very interactive, making you use both keyboard keys and mouse to a good degree, sometimes calling for good timing and reflexes when coordinating player motions and block placements.

The music is also quite entertaining and adds to the light-hearted feel of the game, making it a very relaxing game to play, despite the frustration that it's potentially capable of causing.

Level Editor scores a 10/10 for creative gameplay and good replay value.
