Review of Lexmark X2600m 3-in-1 Printer

Check Out This Lexmark 3-in-1 Printer

The Lexmark Printer X2600m Color 3-in-1 Printer is a good buy and a wonderful addition to any home computer. It is white and weighs probably less than five pounds. Its dimensions are about average for a scanner, copier and printer, and it can be set on a stand or computer desk.

When you take the printer out of the box, you will need to remove the packaging materials. The printer is easy to install. Simply install the software disk that is included, then plug the Lexmark printer into your computer through a printer cable. It couldn't be more simpler. The software even leads you through each step of removing the packaging materials and installing ink cartridges.

The printer comes with one color ink cartridge which will print color and black. However, it definitely makes sense to buy a blank ink cartridge as soon as possible so that the color ink doesn't run out quickly. It is very convenient to be able to print with only one cartridge if you don't have the money to buy the second.

The only thing that really disappointed me was that I didn't know to buy a black ink cartridge when I bought the printer. Although I looked at the store on the printer box for included or needed supplies, I didn't see the information because it was written in fine print on one side.

The printer buttons are relatively easy to understand. The buttons have icons instead of words, which can be a little confusing at first if you are not use to them. Still, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

One button that I am grateful to have is the roll paper on through button. Although I have never had a paper jam with this printer, I know I won't have to pull it on through or remove a back to get the paper out. I have ruined a few printers by pulling the paper out impatiently.

The biggest complaint that I had about the printer is there was no manual that came with it. There are two error lights, I think that is what it is, but without a manual I don't know for sure what it means. I don't know if I should have gotten a manual or if the printer just don't come with one.

The scanner lid is hinged in such a way that books can be scanned without the lid sticking up. It is so much easier to scan a book or pile of papers on the LexMark X2600m printer than on printers without the special hinge and the scan is perfect, not faded in part because of outside light seeping in.

Within the box is information on recycling used ink cartridges and old printers with Lexmark. It is nice to know that your money went to a company that cares about the environment, and that they will help you do what is right.

What isn't in the box is sample paper of any type. And as with any printer there is not a printer cable, so be sure to buy your own if you don't already have one.

The box says it prints in color at 16 ppm and black prints at 22 ppm, not counting the time it takes to send from the computer to when it starts to print the first page. While the pages print at that rate, it seems to take a couple or three minutes before the printer starts to print. This is a small price to pay for a good printer at such a low cost.

As a bonus Photo Explosion software disk is included. It doesn't seem to have been written for Vista. Although it works, it gives a driver error message upon opening. Don't worry though- the printer software is wrote with Vista in mind and works completely fine.

What I thought was a bit strange was that the Lexmark printer box didn't promote the Lexmark 3-in-1 Printer X2600m as a good photo printer but did state that photo software was included as a bonus. I haven't tried to print photos on photo paper yet, but soon I will have Christmas and New Year's Eve photos to print on my new Lexmark printer.

The Lexmark printer does what it claims and is very reasonably priced. I would recommend this to my friends and to my readers with the warning of possibly not getting a manual and don't automatically assume it is a quality photo printer.

  • The Lexmark X2600m printer is worth the money spent.
  • I don't now if it is a good photo paper printer.
  • The printer comes with bonus photo software.
