Review of LG HDTV 42LD450

LG HDTV Review

LG HDTVs are worth the cost if you are serious about picture quality, sound and connecting to your digital media. The 42LD450 is a slim 42" (diagonal) flat screen LG HDTV that sells for around $800. If you do not want to spend an enormous amount but want good quality the 42LD450 is a great buy.

The 42LD450 is only $50 more than the 37LD450 (that is only $10 more per inch) and uses slightly more power. Other than size, price and power usage, these LG HDTVs have the same specifications and features. This LG HDTV review will help you understand the positives and negatives of the 42LD450 from a consumer that owns one.

LG HDTV 42LD450 - Positives

LG HDTVs use High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), which allows you to connect all of your digital media to HDTVs. The 42LD450 has two HDMI/HDCP ports on the side and rear of this TV. You can connect your pictures and music to the 42LD450 via USB 2.0 on the side input of this LG HDTV.

The 42LD450 full HD 1080p has wonderful picture quality and several preset modes (sports, game, cinema). It also has a quick 4ms response time, which will decrease the blurring of fast motion giving you sharp quality sports program viewing.

My favorite special features of the 42LD450 are easy parental control capabilities and energy savings. LG offers a one year warranty on parts and labor but you should always read the fine print as there are always exclusions.

The 42LD450 is very slim and has startling picture clarity and sound quality that are second to none. My LG HDTV review is mostly positive. LG HDTVs have such great quality it is close to seeing a movie in theaters. From browsing the Internet and online TV widgets to viewing your photos or listening to music; the LG HDTV 42LD450 is a great buy. I purchased mine through Newegg for only $674 with free shipping!

LG HDTV 42LD450 - Negatives

The 42LD450 has 2 HDMI ports, while more expensive versions have 4 HDMI ports. This is only a negative if you have more than 2 connections that would need to be connected simultaneously.

The sound quality is not bad but it could be better. There are five sound modes for the 2-way four system speakers. You may need to tweak the bass, treble and balance controls for more optimum audio performance.

Besides having less input ports than more expensive LG HDTVs, a cheap remote, and somewhat lacking sound quality, I cannot think of any other negatives to include in my LG HDTV review of the 42LD450.

Great review! We've been looking at getting a new TV and found that the sound is a problem with a lot of them. I think they just want you to buy a surround sound system too.
