Review of the LG Optimus T Smart Phone

There's only so much that you can be expected to pay for a smart phone, and that seems to be the sales strategy of the folks over at LG. The LG Optimus T is designed to be a low cost smart phone with some very high end features. I decided to take it for a spin to see how it stacked up to other smart phones on the market.

Here's my full review of the LG Optimus T cell phone.

The first thing that needs to be addressed when considering the LG Optimus T is its price point. This is one of the cheapest true smart phones available. How cheap, you ask? Well, if you count the mail-in rebate (and we're talking cell phones here, so you'd better count rebates) it's only $30. For that price you get a phone with features that rival that of the iPhone and even beat Apple's ubiquitous device in a few key areas. With that being said, no one should confuse the LG Optimus T with higher end Google Android phones; it doesn't have the power of a Nexus One or an iPhone by a long shot.

There are some good features to be found here, however. The LG Optimus T sports a 3.2 megapixel camera that really produces some fantastic shots, although the camcorder function leaves something to be desired; it's not in HD, and neither the camera or the camcorder has an LED flash.

I found web browsing to be comfortable and easy on the LG Optimus T, which is a good thing since the phone supports 3G speeds. It's certainly not the best Android phone that I've seen, but it's far from the worst, too, and I really can't stop mentioning the fact that it's so cheap. Seriously, for thirty bucks you should barely be able to get the weather on your phone. This is a full fledged smart phone with app support.

The screen is a 3.2 inch touchscreen which operated very well and seemed very intuitive and accurate. It's not as sharp as an iPhone 4, but I'd certainly put t up there with the iPhone 3GS.

At the end of the day, you could spend half a grand and get a spectacularly outfitted smart phone or drop $30 (and sign a 2 year service agreement) for the LG Optimus T. This is a great phone for anyone who isn't sure whether they need all of the features of those higher end smart phones. It's fairly fast, it's got Android 3.2, and it's got that cool factor that all of the best smart phones have. The LG Optimus T is an excellent choice and a brilliant addition to the Android lineup.
