Review: Life is Just a Cup of Cake Cupcake Bakery in Seoul, South Korea

Itaewon/Seoul's Finest -- and Cutest -- Cupcake Bakery

Life is Just a Cup of Cake
Neighborhood: Itaewon
Life is Just a Cup of Cake may seem like a strange name for a bakery, but it definitely suits this Seoul hotspot.

You see, a few weekends ago I decided to roam around Itaewon (a district in Seoul,South Korea ) and happened upon the loveliest little cupcake shop. Itaewon, for those who don't know, is a district in Seoul, South Korea (Seoul is the 2nd largest city in the world). The Itaewon district is known for its exotic flavor and boasts restaurants that serve up the best authentic cuisine from any country you could think of (Germany, Thai, Japan, China, Italy, American, Indian, etc.).

Location:

The cupcake shop that I found is called, "Life is Just a Cup of Cake" and is positively darling. It's nestled among the busy streets of Itaewon, but sticks out like a diamond in the ruff. Or if you want to stick with cupcake analogies, like sprinkles on a mound of frosting! With a white, shabby-chic bird cage perched out front and a window full of cuteness, it's no wonder I was lured in so easily (the fact that it has the cutest name ever helped out, too).

Dcor:

Life is Just a Cup of Cake is tiny, as are most Korean stores and shops (saves space!). However, it was a bit bigger than I expected it to be which was a pleasant surprise.

From my blog (Miss Wendy City),

"Two women were sitting at a very tiny table drinking tea and enjoying tasty home-baked cupcakes. To the left there was a tiny room with teapots on display and another, larger sized table, with a group of cute Korean women huddled around pleasing their taste buds.

Service

Itaewon has many great English speakers since it's such a multi-cultural district. The owner of this cupcake shop was no different! Her English was quite good and I was treated very well. She asked me a few questions, was pleasant and eager to help me find the tastiest cupcake in the shop!

Taste

The fact that I walked in and it smelled like cupcakes verified that these were home-made. (hey were also decorating and frosting right there for all to see). The smell made my mouth water and the various flavors (some quite exotic) made it difficult for me to choose just one.

From my blog again, "After snapping a few shots and weighing my options, I chose a charming, "Earl Grey" flavored cupcake speckled with the perfect amount of shiny silver beads (edible, of course!). I devoured it later and am happy to inform you that it tasted very tea-like and was a scrumptious afternoon treat."

So, next time you're in Seoul, South Korea stop by Itaewon and enjoy a cupcake (or two)! There's no doubting that it will make your life a delicious cup of cake!
