I decided to stop off at the store this morning on my way to work so I could pick up a couple things we needed while it was still light out. Since I didn't have a chance to eat much for breakfast before leaving, I also took the time to find something I could eat at work.
After first looking at fruit and not finding anything that looked appetizing, I instead headed toward the snack aisle and, after some consideration, purchased a box of Little Debbie Apple Flips. I had seen these snack cookies in the past but had never purchased them before and, as a result of that, I wasn't really sure what to expect from them. However, I was hungry and, at the time at least, they looked appetizing.
Fortunately for me, they lived up to my expectations.
As it turns out, a couple different circumstances led to me taking my lunch about two hours later than normal so, in addition to having one of these for breakfast, I also ended up eating one as a mid-day snack so I didn't pass out from hunger. Both times, I thought these cookies were fantastic.
The cookies had just the right amount of sweetness in them. They had a bit of a sugary taste. But, it wasn't anything that was overwhelming. This was something I appreciated because I'm not a big fan of super-sweet foods, especially first thing in the morning.
Another thing that impressed me about these cookies is they were much more satisfying than I was expecting. They didn't look that big but one was enough to keep me happy for at least a couple hours. I don't know if I would choose them for breakfast again. But, I do think they were perfect as a light snack because of that.
If I had any complaints about these cookies, it would be the lack of apple pie filling. When you first see these cookies, both on the box and in person, they look like they have a lot more of that. But, once you start eating one, it's pretty obvious that isn't the case. It wasn't enough to make me dislike this product, but it was still a bit disappointing.
Overall though, I do recommend the Little Debbie Apple Flips. As I said before, I don't know if I would purchase them for breakfast again. But, I definitely wouldn't mind having a box in my desk for when I need a light snack.
