Little Debbie Red Velvet Cake: Small Cakes, Big Flavor

Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez
I've been a Little Debbie snack cakes fan since boyhood. One of the newer products I have seen in my neck of the woods is Little Debbie Petites red velvet cake. The name says it all: small desserts with only 100 calories each. Sold in cartons of 6 cakes, Little Debbie Petites red velvet cakes clearly address a growing segment of the market - people looking for convenient snacks and desserts that don't go over that magic number of 100 calories. Did Little Debbie score a win here with red velvet cake?

Little Debbie Petite Red Velvet Cakes Are Quite Petite Indeed

Petite is a great name for this cake! Measuring approximately 1-1/4 inches by 2-1/2 inches, these cakes are small. But, yes, they are good, at least among the flavor standard for snack cakes. The red velvet cake tastes like any traditional red velvet cake, though is moister than any others I've had.

A nice surprise with these cakes is how delicate they seem - unlike the cakey, doughy globs often found among the end caps of many a snack food aisle, Little Debbie Petites red velvet cake has an elegant flair, with a delicious cake topped with a light-flavored, sweet cheese cream flavored icing.

Little Debbie Red Velvet Cake Has Just 100 Calories, And...

While you're going to find 100 calories in these surprisingly good (if small) red velvet cakes, you're likely curious about what else is in these Little Debbie petites.

The food label isn't very threatening at all. Here's a look:
