Design
I found Logitech's M305 wireless mouse to be fairly comfortable. It has a nice shape to it and the 2 buttons have a slight concave groove in them for your fingers to rest comfortably in. The scroll wheel scrolls with little resistance and has a distinct "click" so you can tell when you've scrolled a certain distance. Also, the Logitech M305 mouse is ambidextrous; it's symmetrical design allows it to be used by both left and right handed users. My only complaint with respect to it's design is that the mouse is a bit short so people with longer fingers may themselves having to hold the mouse awkwardly in order to use it. This is a common problem with portable mice though.
Portability
The M305's small size makes it ideal for travel. Its nano receiver is so tiny, you can plug it into your laptop and forget about it. You don't have to worry about it breaking off in your USB port when you transport your laptop. The receiver can also be stored inside the mouse, in the battery compartment. The M305 wireless mouse requires only one AA battery which lasts about 2 to 3 months with moderate use.
Functionality
The Logitech M305 functions quite well for a portable mouse. The cursor moves quite smoothly using this mouse and I was able to make fine movements with ease. The wireless range is pretty good; I was able to use the mouse at a distance of about 10-12 feet away from my computer.
The mouse works on a fairly decent variety of surfaces, however, like most optical mice, it has trouble with very smooth surfaces such as glass or polished wood. I didn't care for the fact that the optical sensor on the bottom of the mouse is located on the right side, rather than the center, making it difficult to judge whether or not the optical sensor is actually on top of the surface you're using. This can be a problem when you're using the mouse on an uneven surface, such as the edge of a couch.
Style
Style isn't usually something I'd consider when reviewing a wireless mouse but the M305 seems to be designed with style in mind as well as functionality. The M305 comes in pretty much every basic color you can think of and is also available with some pretty artistic-looking designs. The many colors and design options add a bit of a personalization factor to the Logitech M305 wireless mouse that is usually hard to find in computer accessories.
Overall Value
Logitech is know to manufacture high quality computer accessories and the M305 portable wireless mouse is no exception. Sure, the optical sensor would have been better in the center and people with larger hands may find it a bit awkward but it's a well built device that works well. At $29.95, I consider the Logitech M305 a pretty good deal.
