Review for Logitech Premium Stereo Headset

Prismatica
Out of the package this silver and black headset appears attractive and modern. This headset features large, soft foam ear pads, a noise canceling microphone, and a soft, rubber headband. The silver microphone extends out from behind the right earpiece. This headset connects to your computer using two separate connectors - one for the microphone and the other for the audio. Thanks to a long wire it is easy to move around your computer without getting caught without enough length.

One of the nice features of this headset is a disc-shaped controller on the wire that rests at about hip height when sitting. This controller lets you easily turn off the microphone with a switch or adjust the volume. This feature is incredibly handy for a number of reasons when you don't want your environmental sounds interfering with your microphone.

On first listen the sound is good quality, with no static. The headphones can easily handle noise level at both quiet and loud levels with good quality.

There are some downfalls to this headset however. When purchasing this I bought the larger earpieces figuring it would go around the ear and thus bypass the discomfort that comes with wearing headsets over glasses. Although on the left ear there is no problem, the right side does seem to crush slightly causing discomfort after periods longer then an hour. With adjustment of where glasses sit, and the headpiece, there seemed to be no remedy for this problem.

Also although the microphone supposedly cancels noise, it also seems to cancel out one's voice. It has been a constant problem trying to have other people hear me, even with the microphone volume on the sound drivers turned all the way up. By using a microphone boost setting on my sound card I have finally been able to be heard easier; however I still have gotten better feedback from others about how easily I'm heard when using a 10 year, cheap, single microphone I got with an older computer. As far as canceling other sounds, it seems that when typing it does pick up on my keyboard sounds and other environmental noises that I would think any normal microphone would pick up on. Thus I do not feel its claim to canceling noise to be any major plus.

This headset has sat on my floor and has gotten bumped and kicked numerous times though everyday use to test its durability. The foam and padding on the earpieces seem to still be fine, as well as all other visible indicators. However, on wear I have noticed that now if I move the wrong way and the wires pull slightly on the ear pieces, I lose sound on the left ear piece and there is crackling.

Overall I would not suggest purchasing this headset. It was purchased for 30$ from Circuit City and I would not pay over 5$ for this. Overall the biggest feature of these headphones on their looks, this does not outweigh the lack of durability, comfort, and sound on the microphone.
