Review LOreal Shine Gloss for Shiny Healthy Looking Hair

Does Shine Gloss Really Give Your Hair a Brilliant Shine in Just 10 Minutes?

Julie Lind
L'Oreal Paris has a new product in their Colorist Secrets line called Shine Gloss. It is a crystal clear shine system which is supposed to make your hair look healthy and shiny. But does L'Oreal's Shine Gloss really give you the "brilliant, glossy shine" as promised on the box?

After a long winter, my hair was looking very dull. I went to the hair color aisle planning on buying a home highlighting kit. Since I like the natural color of my hair, I was nervous about buying a hair color product.

When I saw the new L'Oreal Paris Shine Gloss, I was very excited to find a product that would make my hair shiny and healthy-looking without changing the actual color of my hair.

L'Oreal Shine Gloss can be used on natural, color-treated or highlighted hair. According to the box, it is designed to work with any haircolor.

The directions are quite simple. First put on the enclosed gloves, then mix the developer and the clear shine gloss tubes together. Apply the mixture to your hair. Leave the mixture on your hair for ten minutes. Rinse, then add the Hi-Moisture Conditioner and let it sit for two minutes. Rinse out and continue to use the moisturizer on a weekly basis.

There was definitely an odor when applying the mixture. My daughter came into the bathroom and exclaimed, "What is that smell?"

While I didn't mind the smell of the shine gloss treatment, I couldn't stand the smell of the Hi-Moisture Conditioner. I've never experienced a conditioner that smells so bad. I dread having to use the conditioner on a weekly basis.

As I was drying my hair, I kept waiting for the big unveiling of my new shiny hair. But I really couldn't see much of a difference. Maybe it was slightly shinier, but it was very hard to see any difference.

Even though I couldn't see much of a difference, I did receive many compliments. The funny thing is, people didn't know why I looked better, they just knew something had improved.

One person complimented me on my hair cut. One person couldn't get over how nice my jewelry looked. Another liked my shirt. One person asked if I had gotten new glasses (I have had the same pair of glasses for more than two years!) Not a single person mentioned anything about my hair looking more shiny or healthy looking.

Overall, while I did see a slight increase in the shine of my hair, I am not sure I would purchase L'Oreal Shine Gloss again. I didn't feel Shine Gloss lived up to L'Oreal's promise of giving my hair a "glossy shine." Priced at $8.47 at Wal-Mart, it seemed a little too high of a price to pay for something with such subtle results.

I twice purchased Loreal shine gloss and I have noticed no results. I have highlighted hair. I literally wasted $20. I am so disappointed and I want my money back. I will never buy this product again!

I just purchased this product in Walgreens and paid $9.98 and did not see any difference. There should be a disclosure that it does not work on salt and pepper gray hair. I was disappointed and lighter in the wallet.

Ha! Maybe you were just giving off a "confident glow" after using it :) Bummer that the conditioner smells so bad! I enjoyed reading your review.
