Review: L'Oreal's Bare Naturale

TommiH
Right now we are going to take a look at L'oreal Bare Naturale. During this review we are going to take a look at application, quality, color, and coverage. Let's get started!

Color:

I'm starting off with color because it's one of the most important qualities in a foundation. If you have a foundation with bad coloring, it's not worth wearing to start with.

I will stay that I have used a couple different colors of this foundation: for myself, on friends, and on family. I've gone all the way from the lightest to somewhere in the middle of their color collection. There is a wide variety of shades available which is very nice. The more shades you have, the easier it is to find a shade that is closest to your own. Be careful when picking a color for you because the color may look darker when in the jar than it does once applied to the face. I'm very pleased with the colors and coloring.

Coverage:

Coverage is second most important when dealing with foundation. I was very happy with the coverage given with Bare Naturale mineral foundation. What was very nice is the fact that you can choose how much coverage you would like by applying a couple coats. I know you probably don't like the idea of applying a couple coats because it feels heavy on your skin, but that's not the case with this foundation. I got deep sun burnt once and didn't want my face to look like Rudolph's nose so applied a couple coats and there was no heaviness.

Tip for applying: If you would like to avoid having a heavy feel to your skin, apply this way. Use a large foundation or powder brush and dab in product. Once you have the minerals on the brush, dab in various areas on the skin you need to cover. Blend well over the entire area until all the foundation patches are blended in and your skin is covered however you would like.

Application:

Application is rather simple with this foundation. It comes with a kabuki brush built into the lid that is made for mineral makeup and it works nicely. A lot of people complain about the kabuki and say that it's poor quality and so forth, but it's not bad quality. If you clean the brush after using, it will last you the entire product. If you don't clean the kabuki, you will experience split ends and a cakey feeling whenever you use it. Save yourself a kabuki and clean it! It's not hard, I promise.

I noticed if you don't blend this foundation in well, you will get a semi-powder appearance on your skin where you used the product. If you don't want this foundation to look powder-like simply apply a moisturizer to your skin before applying foundation, then apply the foundation and blend well. If you still get a powder residue on your skin, use a clean makeup sponge, damp the sponge with water, and lightly brush over your skin. This will pick up extra, un-needed foundation.

Quality:

For the price, this is a nice foundation. I got my Naturale for $12.86 at a drugstore and it does the trick. Would I say it is the best mineral foundation out there? No. But I would say that this could easily compete with Sheer Cover and those other expensive minerals.

I had to touch up the foundation a couple times throughout the day, depending on what I was doing. Touch ups didn't really bother me since it's so easy to apply. I would simply dust some new foundation over the areas that needed touched up.

What I do not like about this foundation is the fact that it can be very messy! The powder falls everywhere if you don't tap it off properly. Other than that, this is a good mineral foundation - especially for anyone who is just starting with mineral foundation.
