My husband and I were promptly seated when we arrived, and were immediately brought a basket of hot, fresh tortilla chips and two bowls of the restaurant's original salsa (both hot and mild) to enjoy as we looked over the menu. Our waiter, a gentleman with a beautiful Spanish accent and a courteous demeanor, returned very quickly with our drink selections and took our orders. All of the staff had a very good grasp of the English language, which helps non-Spanish-speaking folks like myself from having problems ordering while still maintaining that authentic atmosphere.
The menu selection was very impressive. There was, of course, traditional Mexican cuisine, such as tacos, burritos, and enchiladas, as well as a few American favorites and many restaurant specialties. My husband chose a dish consisting of four different types of taquitos, and I chose the "Burro Texas", a large burrito stuffed with chicken, steak, shrimp, and peppers and onions. While waiting on our order to arrive, we enjoyed more chips and salsa, and discussed how impressed we were with the quality of the service we had experienced thus far, all the while enjoying a nice upbeat Spanish radio station. I took the opportunity after ordering to visit the restaurant's restrooms. The facilities were well-stocked, very clean, and not at all overcrowded.
Our meals were delivered in a very reasonable amount of time. The food was marvelous: perfectly executed, flavorful entrees with just the right amount of seasoning and a beautiful presentation. The quantity was as exceptional as the quality-neither my husband nor I were able to finish everything on our plates.
When we walked up to the counter to pay our bill, I complimented the hostess on the service we had received. It was a wonderful dining experience. The prices were very reasonable, the facilities were clean, the atmosphere was appealing, and the food was superb. If you want a little taste of Mexico here in Greenville, visit Los Amigos. You won't be disappointed.
