Let me begin by saying that I have used solid products from Lush before. Jungle, though, is one of the products that the company warns can melt when exposed to heat. I consider this both a positive, and a negative: a positive because it is a calling card of a lack of synthetic preservatives, but a negative because we are in the middle of one of the hottest summers in the past two decades. That being said, for a solid product I consider this conditioner to be a little bit soft. It is pliable, in fact, unless kept in the refrigerator or in a cold (air conditioned) room. Of course, it is a little bit more pliable when it is a little warm, for example while it is being used in the shower. This can be a slight pain, but does not pose too much of a problem as long as it is stored properly.
Jungle smells absolutely delicious. It has a sweet, tropical, coconut-y smell that is delightful and perfect for the summer. It does, however, have a hint of a natural, woodsy scent underneath the fruitiness which I can barely notice, but I can imagine that it may be a turnoff to some. Fortunately for those who may not like the woodsy undertone, it disappears completely once your hair is dry.
As for the results, I have absolutely noticed a difference in the way my hair feels after I use this. I tend to use it not only as a wash-out conditioner, but also as a leave-in for styling. Once my hair is dry it feels very soft and manageable. It smells beautiful and summery which is a big deal breaker for me, and the scent lasts for a long while especially if it is used as a leave-in conditioner. Another great thing about this is that the avocado in it is a great moisturizer, and I love that once my hair is dry I can feel it going to work and healing my hair.
Overall I love the Jungle solid conditioner. The frustrations with softness and melting are minor and avoidable although ever present in this northeastern heat, and are certainly not grounds for me to give it a thumbs down. I would recommend this to anyone willing to try something new and give their hair a healthy pick-me-up!
