Review: Magna Cart Personal Hand Truck

Steve Helmer
After two years of sleeping in the room next to the kitchen, my wife and I decided it was time to rearrange bedrooms so we were sleeping some place smaller, warmer and with a door (for some privacy). This project required us to move our youngest daughter into another room next to her sister's bedroom so we could move into the one she was using.

The room we moved her into was a room we were using for storage and one thing that needed to be moved to make room for her new bed was a big, metal file cabinet. This was a bit too heavy for my wife and I to carry so I ended up borrowing my dad's Magna Cart Personal Hand Truck.

I've used this hand dolly on a couple different occasions and, each time, I have fallen in love with this tool. In fact, I keep hoping I'll get it for a Christmas present because it is perfect for me.

One of the things I love about this product is it is very lightweight. I have used other dolly/hand trucks before that were very heavy and bulky; something that didn't really make moving heavy objects much easier. More importantly, they weren't something I could keep in my house for long periods of time because they usually took up a lot of room and I don't have a whole lot of extra space (we don't have a basement and my storage shed is pretty full.

The Magna Cart is light enough where I can carry it one handed and, as a result of this, it does make moving heavy things, like file cabinets, much easier. And, despite being so light weight, it holds its own. I have never felt like it was going to break apart under a great deal of strain.

More importantly, this product folds up after use. This is something that makes it perfect for me because I don't have to find a great deal of space to store it in. I can just hang it up somewhere or could even get away with sliding it between our washer and dryer in the laundry room.

As I said before, this is a product I'm hoping to get for Christmas this year. If I don't, I probably will consider buying it for myself; just so I don't have to keep borrowing my dad's. If you do a lot of heavy moving, this is a product I would recommend.
