Review of Marie Callender's Meat Lasagna

Marie Callender's meat lasagna can be found in the frozen section of the grocery store. It can be baked in the oven or done in the microwave. Most microwaves will take about 30 minutes to cook it.

The first thing that I noticed about it was that it didn't have allot of mozzarella cheese on the top like many of the frozen lasagna does. It had a few pieces here and there but it wasn't covered on the top with cheese. It has some sauce and a few meat chunks on it. And the box looked like it was loaded with cheese on the top but the actually product wasn't.

Where it was lacking on top with the mozzarella cheese it did have plenty of ricotta cheese. I was surprised to see so much ricotta cheese in the lasagna considering there wasn't allot of mozzarella cheese.

The sauce wasn't real spicy, I would consider it to be more bland than spicy but it still was good. There was allot of sauce on the lasagna and it was good and filling. There wasn't much meat in the lasagna mostly sprinkled on top of the dinner, there were a few pieces here and there throughout the dinner but not as much as I would expect.

I did notice that the longer it sat the more the sauce thickened up. I tried to cut it after it sat 5 minutes after cooking it and the sauce was still a little on the runny side after letting it stand. It did fine after I waited 10 minutes after it came out of the oven to cut it.

It came prepared in its own container, and all I had to add was a salad and garlic bread and I had a meal. Clean up was easy because I could just throw the container away after eating.

For the price it wasn't a bad meal, I would have loved to have more cheese on top, but next time I can purchase my own extra cheese and add it to the top. It was a good meal that was done quickly and it wasn't that many calories for dinner. 1 piece which they consider about a cup was only 260 calories. So that could be worked into many diets and still have a great meal. I liked the ease of cooking and clean up. On nights that I am rushed I will be buying this again for my family.
