Review of Mark Shine Tube Lip Gloss

Lisa Ross
Ever have a beauty craving? While watching the very funny film Knocked Up, I just couldn't get over my envy of Katherine Heigl's perfect lip color. I wanted lips like that! Glossy with a hint of color, preferably delivered by a product that wouldn't cost much.

The next day I got the Mark Shine Tube Lip Gloss I had ordered. I had actually ordered it for the flavor. These lip glosses come in four flavors: buttercream brioche, creme caramel, marshmallow, and sugared almond. I ordered the creme caramel, which is a beautiful rose color with shimmer. It smells and tastes delicious, just like caramel. Sometimes flavored cosmetics have a slight chemical taste or smell to them that makes them seem "off". This product is as delicious as it is beautiful.

It comes in a .14 oz squeezable tube with a slanted plastic tip. I really prefer that to those spongy doe foot type applicators. They make it difficult to distribute the product evenly. Like many Mark products, this lip gloss can be attached to another of their products with a "hook up" connector. These connectors are free when you order two Mark products.

Mark Shine Tube Lip Gloss imparts a sheer wash of color and lots of shine. Since the color is so sheer, they will look different from one person to the next, depending on their natural lip color. Buttercream brioche is a neutral shimmering cream color. Marshmallow is a neutral shimmering pink, lighter in shade than the creme caramel. Sugared Almond is a shimmering light peach. Should the shade not compliment your coloring, it is at least guaranteed to taste good! The high shine makes it a nice pairing with your favorite lipstick.

This glossy shine makes your lips look fuller. The subtle color enhances them while retaining the understated look that is often seen paired with smoky eye makeup. It is also great for a natural look, when you need a little polish but don't want to look like you tried very hard. Reapplication becomes addictive since it tastes like a gourmet dessert.

This lip gloss sells for $5 in the Mark catalog. Mark recently partnered up with Lauren Conrad from MTV's Laguna Beach and The Hills. Like Katherine Heigl, Lauren's makeup always looks lovely and not overdone. I had been wanting to try to replicate that look. This lip gloss helps me do that and will be a staple, as I try out all the flavors and look good doing it.
