Review of Marvel Comic's Astonishing X-Men #7 Written by Joss Whedon

Eric Jackson
This is what the X-Men should be and hasn't been in a very long time. Joss Whedon is amazing at writing Astonishing X-Men. Not only does he capture everyone's personality he is able to add something to the mix. They talk just like family members would, and in this family everyone one has beef with someone. It is one of the best comics I have read all year.

In this issue young Wing, a student at the Academy, is made powerless (cured) and now doesn't know what to do with the rest of his life. When you define yourself as something for so long and that is taken away from you it can be hard to have any identity at all. He stands at the edge of a cliff outside the Academy doing the Hamlet number.

The X-Men hoping to advance their image and help the common good battle one of the mole mans creations, a huge green monster. The Fantastic Four shows up to aide them in the battle. They defeat the monster with no problem other than some tension between the two groups. This seems to be a common problem in the Marvel Universe no one really likes anyone outside their own club. Everyone is very clickish.

Colossus is keeping his distance from the group after his recent freedom. It really has nothing to do with the group and more to do with he just hasn't had time to process anything. The story ends with young Wing dead in the danger room. It turns out he wasn't outside the school at all. This series is one of the better ones I have ever read and would urge you to go and get it right away. Everything is top quality and worthy of an: 9.2 out of 10.
