Review of the Maxiglide

Great for Most Hairtypes, a Little Extra Work for Thicker Hair

Stacey Super
For awhile I had seen the infomercials for the flat iron Maxiglide. Just like most viewers with my 4a thick curly hair type, I was floored. I could not believe that this flat iron would get my hair smooth, straight and shiny. I researched the product through various hair care forums and the reviews swayed more towards the positive than the negative, but I was not yet convinced to spend over one hundred dollars plus shipping on the Maxiglide.

Then one night I was bored and I turned to one of those home shopping channels and behold was the Maxiglide demo. I saw how all these women with different hair types was achieving smooth straight hair and I was waiting to see my hair type. Well, the closet the demo came to 4a hair was a lady with maybe 3b hair. Her natural hair state was thick but not thick and spirally like mine. Her natural hair before the demo also looked as if they teased it to look extra wild. Anyhow, she took a small section of her hair and used the Maxiglide. It got her hair straight and it looked great. From that moment I was sold.

I have had the Maxiglide for over two years and I feel as thought I have gotten my money's worth and aside from all the other cheaper flat irons , the Maxiglide has done the best job getting my hair straight, but not alone.

I have to use a straightening product with it such as Phytodefrissant. I also have to blow dry my hair on a low setting first, then set the flat iron to 3. Once the blue light stops flashing the flat iron is ready to go. I also use Phytospecific oil cream as a heat protectant when I flat iron my hair. I do not use the burst of steam because that made my hair extra dry. The Maxiglide got my hair straight but not bouncy and I would have to use a curling iron or rollers to get body and bounce afterwards.

Also, because my hair is so thick and I live in the humid south, after 3 days my hair is really thick again and in need of a touch up or a washing. I feel that the Maxiglide would work better on hair that is into as thick as mine, as far as holding the straightness for longer and having bounce. However, if you girls like the results of a hard press then this product would be best. Things to keep in mind are to keep the combs of the flat iron clean, if they are dirty , your hair will get pulled. Also the higher heat settings are dangerous. I use 3 and sometimes I drop down to 2 because the heat is to much for my hair. Do not expect a miracle from any hair product. Have plenty of time to do your hair when using this flat iron. I generally set aside one to two hours because my hair is so thick and I flat iron at small sections.

Finally, send in the warranty because you never know if your new product is defective. Happy Shopping.
