Review of Maxi-Hair for Thinning Hair

It Actually Worked for Me

Pat Burroughs
Today I went to my hairdresser for one of my infrequent perms, and she said she was amazed at how thick and healthy my hair has become in the last few months. Considering that she has been doing my hair for over a decade, that sounded very reassuring to me.

My hair starting thinning during the 90's when I was under a lot of stress, plus I had five surgeries in seven years. Anesthesia is said to cause one's hair to thin. I was also using a hot curling iron on my hair during those years when I had an office job, and heat is not good for fine hair. Add to that my age and stage of life, and my hair had little going for it. I was so embarrassed about my hair, or lack of it, that I bought a few wigs and wore them from time to time when I could stand them. Wigs and Oklahoma heat don't go well together.

For several years I had been trying anything anyone recommended for hair loss, but nothing made a bit of difference. I was told that such products as Rogaine might help, but would have to be used indefinitely, once I started using them. I read the warnings on the Rogaine packages and was afraid to use it.

A few months ago, I went online to Vitacost.com, where I had been buying vitamins and supplements for several years, and on a whim typed in "hair loss products." One of the things that came up was Country Life Maxi-Hair. There were a number of comments on the product, and every one was positive. Some said they would never again be without it, as it had made such an improvement in their hair. So, since I tend to put a lot of stock in such reviews where the negative is printed along with the positive, I decided to order a bottle of Maxi-Hair.

I was just beginning to notice a difference in my hair, when surgery was required again. Not only did I have to leave off the Maxi-Hair and all other vitamins, etc. for a week or two before the surgery, but once more there was anesthetic to set me back.

Immediately after the surgery in April, I started back on the Maxi-Hair. My hairdresser told me four months later, in August, that my hair was much thicker and stronger than she had seen it in years. Today she said it was the best she had ever seen it.

Maxi-Hair is also intended to help with nails and skin. My nails have always been soft and would tear off before they got any length on them. Lately I've noticed that they are harder and I actually need to trim the length off them from time to time.

I can't say whether or not there has been any improvement in my skin, but I wasn't having any particular skin problems anyway, other than dryness.

I would highly recommend Country Life Maxi-Hair to anyone who needs help with thinning hair. But one shouldn't expect to see a difference overnight. Hair is said to grow about a half inch per month, so naturally it takes several months for new hair to be noticed.

The contents of Maxi-Hair are:

Vitamin A, 5000 I.U.-100% (Daily value)

Horsetail Extract

L-Cysteine

Choline

Recommended dosage is two tablets per day, and that's how I take them, one in the morning and one at night.

Maxi-Hair comes in a big tablet which I found difficult to swallow at first. But I got used to it and now have no problem getting it down. For those who have problems swallowing big pills, they can be crushed and mixed with applesauce.

While the daily required amount of some of these vitamins may seem high, I noticed that there was not an extremely high content of Vitamin A. Since Vitamin A is a product that stays in the body for a long time and can be toxic in overly large amounts, I felt reassured that the makers of the product probably know which vitamins can be taken in large quantities and which should not, and acted accordingly when formulating Maxi-Hair.

Country Life Maxi-Hair sells on Vitacost.com for $9.05 for 90 tablets. Vita-Cost charges $4.99 for shipping on any order. I have always bought Maxi-Hair from Vitacost , but by Googling in "Country Life Maxi-Hair," one can find it on other sites. I have found it a little cheaper on a couple of sites, but their shipping charges were higher.

Before I buy anything from an online company, I always check it out for complaints. I found some complaints against Vitacost, but I'll have to say in all honesty I've never found the company to be anything but fair and competent. Their service is lightning fast and I've never had any problems of any kind with them.

According to the complaints, I would advise anyone going to Vitacost not to take any surveys for the purpose of getting $10 off your next order, nor pay any attention to any special offers you're not looking for. However, for a couple of years, I have been receiving magazines that were given by Vita-Cost as a bonus or some such, and have never had any problems with them whatsoever.

Wherever you go to buy Country Life Maxi-Hair, if you decide to buy it, I hope you'll be as pleased with the results as I am.

Jane, I just really can't say. It might help, but I find I really need to take one morning and one night. I recently told a friend about it and when she came to town recently, she showed me her fingernails and said it was the first time she had ever been able to grow any that didn't break. And she said her hairdresser just couldn't believe how much thicker her hair was. But of course I know only what it says on the bottle and no more. Good luck on this. Will you please let me know how you come out on it? And if there's any way I might be able to help, let me know. Wish it was so I could share mine with you.

Great review. This is something I was just thinking about the other day because I have such fine hair, and I've been worried that mine seemed to be thinning. I was talking about it to a friend, and she said she had the same problem for years and that is was an age thing. Great, another interesting side effect that I'd never heard about. I'll pass along this information and I am going to look into it for sure.
