Sometimes there are people in life that you should dislike solely on principal. Michael Aaron is one of those people, because he's enormously talented at not just one or two things, but a whole slew of creative endeavors that make anyone around him seem like the world's biggest slacker. The thing is, you can't dislike him: he's just too damn good of a guy. It would be much easier if he was a flat-out jerk, but he's not. He's friendly and affable, and more often times than not, hilarious.

I have a long-standing friendship with Michael Aaron, which one would assume makes this a bias review of him. True, it does bias it, but I think his work alone can confirm any disbeliever of my praise. There's no question of his talent, and so therefore I will sing his praise (just as I did on today's Radio Program Premiere) throughout this review.

First and foremost, Michael is a singer-songwriter, and a terrific one at that. What I love most about his songs is that they touch upon all emotions - not just sing-song-y, lovey-dovey ones. Sometimes life can be dark and it can be difficult, and his music embraces that in a beautiful way. He turns it into something that is not only musically gratifying, but something that people can really connect with in their own way. Additionally, he is a gift arranger. He's done covers tunes of songs that I formerly hated, and then loved once they were resurrected with that special Michael Aaron charm. His singing is like listening to the wind saunter by.....comforting and cool. He's also an accomplished guitarist, plays bass, piano, and pretty much anything electronic he can get his hands on.

Michael released his first two albums "The Weather Prophet" (1994) and "The Projection Room" (2000) which were both well received by local music media and fans. He's currently working on his new material for a 2010 CD called "Bird Without Wings," and I suggest you get in line now for what can only prove to be his finest material yet.

In addition to his music, he's has also made the foray into digital photography, ideography, and visual effects and founded his company "Shibboleth Pictures." He's done digital photography for many Boston-based musicians (ahem!) and has been producing music video clips for such notable acts as Chapter 6 and Jim's Big Ego. In fact, he's recently released two great videos of mine as well, and I could not be happier working with him or with the final product.

We featured two of Michael Aarons' originals on the radio program tonight, and both were very well receive. You can hear his feature on the radio station by clicking the RSS feed below for yesterdays show:

This is a person who has influenced and inspired my life, and I have a feeling if you let him in, he'll inspire you too. After all, a musician's job is to connect emotionally, and that, my friend, he can do. So go listen and enjoy. And be inspired.
