Review of Michale Graves - Punk Rock is Dead

A Review of the Punk Rock King Going Solo!

Being a huge misfits fan, I always enjoyed there vocalist, Michae Graves. He left the misfits in late 2000, and pretty much went underground. Releasing various recordings, from his band "Graves" on indie labels, and DIY recording equipment, graves fans have been waiting for a full Ep. Well friends, the wait is over. I bring you the review of "Michale Graves - Punk Rock is Dead"

The New CD, released on "Horror High Records" isn't usually available in most actual stores, but from a ton of different on line merchants. I picked my copy up at his labels website. I have seen it also on Itunes, Cd baby, and amazon.

Now lets get done to it. The new CD isn't very long at all, clocking in at just over 25 minutes, but what we get is 25 minutes of greatness. The actually recording quality is amazing compared to past solo releases. Finally!

As far as the music goes, it's fast, in your face, melodic, and just plain fun. It has a very campy, tongue in cheek sort of feel to it, but doesn't come off corny at all.
As most graves fans will know, his music is mainly about horror, horror movies, and spirituality. Punk rock is dead shows off these talents beautifully with songs like "Teenage Monster" , "Dawn Of The Dead", and the titled "Punk Rock Is Dead".

If you were a fan of his recordings with the misfits, then you will most likely fall in love with this CD. It's a little short, but you will love every minute. How often do yo buy a CD that has an hour of music on it, but really only like a few tracks totally a time of 20 minutes? There's no skipping tracks with this CD, every one is just pure gold.

The new band members I believe make a bit of difference, J.V is still on the bass, and Paul Lifeless Drumming style is still ever so present. New comer, J-sin Trioxin show that he is no juke, laying down the most catchy guitar riffs that have ever blessed your ears. Of course, he's been in this business for a time too. His band "Mister Monster" was on tour with the misfits for some time. Maybe thats how he began a relationship with graves?

I digress, and in closing, I highly recommend this CD to everyone. Whether you are a punk rock fan or not, this CD is sure to get your toes tapping, hand clapping, and possibly even some air guitar!
