Review: Miessence Shave Gel 8.5 Oz Pump

OneGroup's Miessence Shave Gel is an environmentally friendly shaving gel. Miessence Shave Gel is certified organic. Certified Organic products are verified by third parties, and over 95% of the ingredients must be created organically rather than synthetically. Because Miessence Shave Gel is is certified organic, that means it is not made with manmade chemicals like other shaving products out there. Likewise, people who are concerned about the environment can rest assured that they are choosing an environmentally friendly product.

A few months ago I won a blog contest and received a free bottle of Miessence certified organic Shave Gel. After using it for over two months, I feel it is a real hit or miss product. Depending on the person who uses it, and how often they shave, you will either love or hate Miessence Shave Gel. Let me explain.

Miessence Shave Gel is akin to using a manual lawnmower. It's fantastic for the planet, however one must use it often or you will not be able to cut the grass (or in this case, shave). It's also hard work. Despite the claim on the back of the Miessence Shave Gel bottle that it "provides good razor-slip for a close, smooth shave," it does anything but. Miessence Shave Gel works best for those who shave every other day. Going just two days without shaving renders Miessence Shave Gel worthless.

During my review of the product, I could only use Miessence Shave Get 75% of the time I shaved. Like most guys, I can't shave every day or my skin suffers serious irritation. In a normal workweek, I generally shave on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. During the weekends I typically skip shaving, and I found it almost impossible to use Miessence Shave Gel on the following Monday mornings. Instead, I had to rely on my old shaving cream.

One great feature about Miessence Shave Gel is that the product lasts for quite a while. Miessence Shave Gel comes in an 8.5 ounce bottle, however only a couple squirts are needed for use. After using the product for almost two months, a third of the bottle is still left.

Another thing I noticed was that after a few weeks of using the Miessence Shave Gel is that the skin on my face became slightly smoother. It might have something to do with the fact that two thirds of Miessence Shave Gel is aloe vera.

One negative about Miessence Shave Gel is its obscene price point. Miessence Shave Gel retails for $29.95 on Amazon.com. While I personally love that Miessence Shave Gel is organic, I cannot justify its price. I would rather pay three dollars for typical shave gel at a store than shell out my hard earned cash just because it is organic. If Miessence Shave Gel had a more competitive price, I could see myself purchasing it.

Another qualm that I have with Miessence Shave Gel is that it is a product of Australia. I don't have anything against Australians, however in order to receive Miessence Shave Gel over in the United States it must fly or sail over the ocean. While the product itself may be environmentally friendly, the transportation of the product itself is anything but.

If you have pockets lined with money, and shave often, then Miessence Shave Gel may be right for you. For average guys though, Miessence Shave Gel simply is not worth the price or aggravation. If down the road the retail price of Miessence Shave Gel was significantly lowered, then this reviewer would gladly recommend it to those who shave frequently and want to be environmentally friendly.
