Review - Mirenesse 24 Hour Secret Weapon Mascara

Lilah Lane
I've been looking for the perfect mascara for a long time; I'm pretty picky! I'd like a mascara that lengthens, doesn't clump, curls, is smudge proof, and is waterproof but removes easily.

Mirenesse secret weapon mascara is all this and more! It's parabens and mineral oil free, which means that it won't irritate sensitive eyes. It won't curl your eyelashes much, but if you use a eyelash curler beforehand, the curl will stay for hours. It lengthens and gives volume, and is fast drying.

But if you're very slow at applying mascara, like me, the mascara is already half dry on your brush, which is annoying. But this mascara is actually water based, so you can cool it down or heat it up. If it gets too dry, you can even add water. Most mascaras are oil based, so you can't so that.

My major annoyance with this mascara is that it clumps a bit, and all my eyelashes stick together! But thankfully it is easy to un-clump. Not to mention the flaking, this mascara flakes quite a bit! You end up with flakes on your lashes that always find their way off you eyelashes and onto your cheeks.

But unlike many mascara I can think of, all you need is warm water and your fingers to remove. If you wet your eyelashes with warm water, you can pull the 'tubes' of mascara off. It's quite hard to do though, and I always end up pulling out a few eyelashes! But this mascara stays on through pretty much anything, sweating, swimming and crying.

Mascaras that are similar to Mirenesse; Clinique Lash Power mascara and L'Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes mascara. L'Oreal, being a drugstore brand, is much cheaper. I haven't tried these mascaras, but I'm not sure if they are parabens free, or if they're as effective as Mirenesse.

Waterproof mascaras can cause buildup in your eyes, but if you prefer water proof mascara, swim frequently or live in a wet country, you probably wear water proof every day. Mirenesse's mascara is a great alternative to water proof mascaras.

There's no other mascara that I use this frequently now, I'm addicted! If you hate big panda eyes, this mascara is for you. If you can stand a mascara that's a bit trickier to apply, and flakes, but you really want the length and volume, this is for you. I haven't heard much about Mirenesse as a brand, but if this is how high standard their products are, I'm looking forward to finding out more!
