I did not have a lot of money for a down payment, and my daughter told me they had a good selection of vehicles with only a $500.00 down payment. There are other down payment options available as well. She took me to Mohawk Auto, and I looked at all the vehicles, I chose a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT. This truck is in awesome shape. The body has no rust, the tires were almost brand new, everything works on it, runs excellent, ( I did have one little problem, which I will explain a little later in the review ), it is great on gas, and it does not have any weird quirks. My salesman was very helpful, knowledgeable, and really patient with me. He explained everything in detail when it came to financing, payments etc. He also asked me if I had any questions or concerns, and he answered all my questions completely.
About Mohawk Auto Center:
**** They have been in business since 1919. They are a family owned business. They are located at 740 State St. Schenectady NY.
**** They deal in Pre- owned vehicles.
***** Mohawk Auto can finance anyone, bad credit, no credit, Bankruptcy, and repossessions. The only thing they are concerned with is you present situation. All you have do do is bring in 2 pay stubs and 2 utility bills, plus proof of address and a small down payment. They will have you in a new vehicle most of the time in one day, if not the next day.
My salesman called me the day after I picked out my truck, and I was approved. I had my truck in 3 days time.
They are a buy here - pay here dealership.
*** Pay weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, right at the dealership.
*** All vehicles come with a 30 day Warranty, you can get an extended Warranty, but I am not sure of the cost, as I don't have it.
*** The girls in customer service are nice and friendly, and helpful. The payment receipt has all the info you need on it, plus your next payment date.
*** The guys in the service department are great, and assist you with all your car care needs. All the vehicles are totally cleaned and inspected before they leave the lot. They will help you with all you car care concerns and questions.
About three weeks after I got my truck I went to the service department to ask them what a couple of knobs with no writing or picture on them did. They gladly looked at them and told me what feature they controlled.
A few perks at Mohawk Auto center:
*** If you make all your payments for 6 months on time, you will get a free week, which means you do not have to make a payment! That includes every 6 months until your vehicle is paid for.
**** Every time you refer someone to Mohawk Auto, and they use your name, Mohawk will give you $50.00 ! So far my daughter has gotten $150.00 for her referrals.
**** Okay I want to mention a little something about Repo here, This is for people with bad credit or no credit. So for the most part they don't come get your vehicle. What they do with you is when you get your vehicle they give you a little device with numbers on it, and every time you make a payment they give you a code to punch into the device, according to how many weeks you have paid for, ( this is for people with bad credit ). You aim the device under the drivers dashboard. If you can't get out to them by your payment day and it is the weekend, there is an emergency code that you can use. Otherwise you won't be able to drive your vehicle. Also there is a drop box for payments made after hours and on the weekends.
I mentioned earlier that I had a minor problem with my truck, the check engine light had come on, so I brought it in to have it fixed without an appointment, as I was there making a payment, and they let me wait for my truck to be fixed, as the dealership is not really close to my home, and I would not have transportation home. Oh by the way, my 30 day warranty had expired 2 days earlier, and they did not charge me for the work that was done on my truck, as they had to replace" 2, " O2 sensors. If I paid out of pocket it was like $375.00. So I was really happy they helped me out.
I am very happy with Mohawk Auto and love doing business with them! If and when I decide I need a new vehicle or just want to upgrade the one I have, I will definitely deal with Mohawk Auto!
They really work with you, they help put you into a vehicle that you can afford. I pay under $300.00 a month for my Ford Explorer and it fits nicely into my budget. I can't ask for a better deal.

Post a CommentMy fiance bought a vehicle from here a little over a year ago because he had heard such great things about this place. We were excited since there was no credit check as his credit was not great. However, upon driving the vehicle home, both the brake light and the air conditioner were found to be not working. We finally were able to get it into Mohawk's shop to be fixed. Weeks later, the transmission started going on it. Brought it to the shop again...a back and forth lasted for a long time and finally they agreed to fix it. After several visits later (as of yesterday) the radiator fluid blew up all over my fiance. Since the vehicle was out of warranty, he has to pay for it and will not get it back for several days.
I cannot wait until his vehicle is paid off so we will not have anything to do with Mohawk. Maybe it was a fluke, but I believe he got sold a lemon. I would not risk the headache of purchasing a vehicle here. You will SIGN YOUR LIFE AWAY!
Oh...also, this place mak
Beware of these guys! I've gotten cars from them in the past. They prey on people's desperation! They offer incentives to get more business, then after you give them more business, they say, "Oh, sorry, that's not what we meant... OR sorry, we no longer offer that program..." And that's just starters.
I was 2 1/2 weeks late with a payment, and they knew how to contact me. Instead, they repo'd the car before the 3rd week, and when you pay what is owed to get the car back, NOONE wants to come to the phone to tell you where your car is to get it back! AND they charge you
a $35 extra to get all your property back that was in the car when they took it! I wouldn't go to them again if they were the last car dealer on earth! I'd rather stick a hot poker in my eyes than deal with them ever again. Credit/Collection Manager Judy Miller is a cow. I'd use another "C" word, but I'm not that kind of person.
Wow that is to bad to hear you did not have good luck with them. As for the 1 free payment for 6 months, I did get mine. And they should give me another one, considering the fact I pay once a month and I always pay early.
Misty21 I feel you and you daughter were lucky. I just had them take back a car I had for a Year and a half. They exchanged it for another. I've had it for less than 2 weeks and they have had to put over 2600 dollars into it. Partially because they were caught being bad by MY mechanic. They also have removed the 6 month 1 free payment option. Said had too many problems with customers trying to sneak a few extra in a year
