The Plot: Girl, Amanda, feels like she keeps meeting the wrong men, meets the perfect guy, Jim, until evidence shows he is possibly a murderer. The murderer idea comes in at a perfect time because it seems like a great deal of the film has already elapsed at this point so when Jim accepts a date with her you think "geesh is it the end," but the plot thickens as the audience and Amanda think that he has killed someone. The rest of the movie is of the characters trying to figure out if he is a murderer, but they find he has an even more interesting secret.
Comic relief: One of the funniest subplots about this movie is the fact that the main character Amanda, a paint restorer, moves in with super models. Their antics bring on laughs as they help Amanda to find out if Jim is actually a killer or not. There is also a dog named Hamlet that the character Jim walks from time to time who nearly rapes Amanda in a scene when Jim and Amanda first meet. Every time Hamlet is around he pounces on a woman with an uncontrollable urge to hump.
Silly Clichés: Every time Amanda sees Jim it seems like her knees get weak and she collapses. It's like her way of knowing that she is falling for him. In one scene this happens and she falls down a flight of stairs. Although it sort of got less funny each time it happened, when she fell down the stairs it was priceless. Her roommates, the models are great with comedy and also were given cliché roles. They are clearly wrapped up into themselves, clothes and about being pretty. One seems like a total dunce and in every scene has a bandage on her face from plastic surgery, saying that the modeling agency told her to get it done. In one scene she has bandages over both eyes and in one scene she is shown running around blindly falling over furniture and dancing around in a montage like scene.
Head Over Heels kept me laughing; when it came on I was supposed to be doing something and totally sat down to watch the movie, focusing on it completely. This film is perfect for a Girl's Night, to cheer you up on a bad day, or just anytime.
