Murad has come out with a new line of products targeted for fickle teenage skin that is prone to acne and breakouts. But teenagers aren't the only ones who struggle with pimples - it's not like the moment we turn 20, our faces miraculously clear up and we're pimple-free for the rest of our lives, unfortunately. I recently dealt with a horrible breakout and found myself wandering aimlessly around Sephora trying to find something that would do the trick. The first thing that caught my eye was the brightly colored Murad line! Because each product is simply decorated in a white background with fun, brightly colored dots on the packaging, it is easy to read and so I had no problem picking out the Clean Scene Crazy for Clear Spot treatment.
It comes in a small tube and has a clear rubber tip that reminds me of a crayon. You can either apply the product with this little applicator tip, or squeeze some onto your finger and do it that way (which is probably more sanitary if you see yourself sharing this in the future). The solution is a smooth, shimmery liquid but it dries clear on your skin. Upon using it the first time, I noticed a few things right away. The first was that a little bit of this stuff goes a long way. It's so thin that you don't need much of it to spread over a decent sized area, and if you're just dabbing it on a few odd spots like I have been doing you only need enough to cover the spot. The second thing that I noticed was that if you're using this as a spot treatment, meaning dabbing a pretty obvious dot of product onto your skin on top of blemishes, you should probably use this at night. Clean Scene does dry clear if you spread the layer out, but if you use it as a spot treatment after a few hours it will form somewhat of a crusty white shell over your zit. Adorable, no?
As for Crazy for Clear's effectiveness I am a little bit torn. I noticed that it did not work so well on hormonal breakouts. But, it did work pretty well on random pimples that sprouted due to changes like sweat and my diet. However, since I only deal with hormone breakouts every once in a while and the gym quite a few times a week, I am more than pleased that I am getting my money's worth out of it! Clean Scene goes for about $16 at Sephora.
