Review: Nabisco Wheat Thins Parmesan Basil

Ann-Marie Walker
Nabisco has created several new flavors for their Wheat Thins crackers. I have tried their Sundried Tomato Basil wheat thins and absolutely loved them. Since those were great tasting, I decided to give their Parmesan Basil a try. The following is a review of their flavor, texture and nutritional information.

Texture

The Parmesan Basil Wheat Thins have the same great crispy crunch that the original wheat thins have.

Flavor and Taste

The first thing I noticed when I tasted the the Parmesan Basil Wheat Thins were the flavor of basil. The Parmesan flavor was not as strong. The Wheat Thins tasted more like a basil cracker with a hint of Parmesan. According to the box they are suppose to have a hint of garlic too. The garlic flavor is so very light, it is very hard to pick up. If your expecting to bite into a Parmesan full flavored Wheat Thin, you might be a bit disappointed. The overall taste was good. I would eat them if I had them. I do not plan on buying them again. The basil was too overwhelming, and there was not enough Parmesan. If you prefer a cracker with a primarily basil flavor, you might like the Parmesan Basil Wheat Thins.

Serving Size

The serving size for the Parmesan Basil Wheat Things are 15 crackers. I usually have crackers for an afternoon snack, and found 15 crackers to be a perfect amount. There are approximately 9 servings in a 9.5 ounce box.

Overall Review

Nabisco's Parmesan Basil Wheat Thins crackers were not as I expected. Their flavor did not fit my expectations. I found the basil a little overwhelming and the Parmesan flavor too subtle. I barely detected the hint of garlic they were suppose to have. In fact if I had not read the box, I would not have noticed the garlic flavor at all. If I was at someone's house and they offered me Parmesan Basil Wheat Thins I would eat them. If I was grocery shopping and strolling down the cracker isle, I would not pick up a box and buy them. If you think you would like a primarily basil cracker with a hint of Parmesan, then they might be something you would enjoy. If your expecting a strong Parmesan cracker, you might be disappointed.
