Review: Nena's Restaurant om Stockton, Ca

Nena's Restaurant
Neighborhood: Waterloo
Stockton, CA 95210
United States of America
Location
There is one thing that I truly don't like about Nena's restaurant and that's just where it is, located at 1064 Waterloo Road in Stockton Nena's is very visible while driving by. The environment and neighborhood isn't exactly the most comfortable however.

Ambiance
Nena's can hit people the wrong way on occasion when entering. Outside there are often a few people selling handmade jewelry and clothing, in the lobby there is occasionally a shady dvd salesman and the entire area around Nena's is somewhat bleak and uninviting.

Once entering things change slightly. The restaurant is not poorly lit, but not bright and it feels homey. It doesn't feel particularly high class but...nice, quaint and comfortable. The ambiance is great for quiet things and spending time with families.

Staff
The staff is friendly enough but not overly so unless you frequent the establishment, they are competent and professional but not exceedingly friendly. There is however the fact that Nena herself can often be found wandering and visiting with customers, inquiring as to how they are satisfied with the cuisine and service. The restaurant owner herself doing this is, as always, a great touch.

Food
This is where Nena's shines. It has excellent food. Truly excellent, delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine. The portions are huge and the selection is large. They also, quite seriously, have the greatest tortillas I have ever tasted. Anywhere. That includes my grandmother's kitchen. The food is, unfortunately, a little pricey. I've never been disappointed however, and it is always worth the few extra dollars spent.

Overall-Suggestion
Nena's isn't a great place for a quick bite to eat, it's a slower calmer and quieter place for that. It is however a perfect place to sit down for a calm quiet dinner or meal with friends and family. The food is worth the price and the location.
