Review: Newman's Own Thin & Crispy 4 Cheese Pizza

Paul Newman's line of delicious food products - from which all of the after-tax profits and royalties go to educational and charitable benefits - now includes pizza. Newman's Own Thin & Crispy 4 Cheese Pizza caught my eye in my grocer's frozen section just the other day and thought I should give it a try. Of course, as with any new frozen pizza, I wasn't quite sure what to expect for flavor when I bought Newman's Own 4-Cheese Pizza, but it was worth a shot anyhow because I do enjoy many of the products in the Newman's Own food line.

Preparation

Baking Newman's Own 4 Cheese Pizza is simple and quick. 10 to 12 minutes in an oven preheated to 425 degrees gets the pizza heated up and ready to enjoy.

*NOTE: The directions on the Newman's Own pizza box state you should NOT use a cookie sheet for baking this pizza.

Flavor

Newman's Own 4 Cheese Pizza is good. The crust really is thin and crispy - just as the box states - and NOT chewy, overly moist, or mushy, as many frozen pizza crusts get after being baked. The sauce was tasty. It didn't taste nearly as sweet or processed as the sauce on some other frozen pizzas I have tried over the years.

The cheese was tasty, too. The 4-cheese flavor added a degree of dynamism that most frozen cheese pizzas I've had lack. Also, the cheese wasn't so stringy that I felt the risk of choking upon swallowing each bite! That might sound funny, but it's true. I've had several frozen pizzas on which the cheese is either over-loaded or so stringy that I genuinely worried about my risk of choking or gagging on the cheese. Not the case at all with the Newman's Own 4 Cheese Pizza!

Before I go about listing out the nutrition facts as found on the Newman's Own 4 Cheese Pizza box, let me tell you that these numbers apply to a serving size which accounts for a full 1/3 of the entire pizza! That's a large serving, given that the pizza measures somewhere around 10-1/2" or so.

Yes, I WILL be buying Newman's Own frozen pizzas again, and I will be sure to buy the Newman's Own Thin & Crispy 4 Cheese Pizza variety, too. The flavor is good, the crust is satisfactory, and the quality is evident in this product.
