Review: Nora Roberts' Brides Quartet is a True Romantic Series for Every Girl!

Shannan Siegwart Small
Known as "America's Favorite Novelist," Nora Roberts has written countless tales of love and romance, so it is no wonder she finally put into words the ultimate romantic series in the Brides Quartet.

With three books released so far in the quartet (the fourth is due out in December) it is no wonder many on-line bookstores are sold out! Once you pick up the first book, you can't wait to find out what happens (and how it happens) in the next! (It just makes me wonder, how will we wait until December?!)

Book #1: Vision in White introduces the quartet of friends the likes of which we can only hope to aspire to have! The four of them own and operate Vows, a very successful wedding consulting business that focuses on the entire production of hosting a wedding. Parker, the main wedding planner and mastermind of the production, Laurel, the baker,Emma, the floral designer, and Mackenzie, the photographer. This tale focuses on Mac who is a low maintenance kind of gal from her shockingly short red hair to her love of Pop Tarts, but her view on the world as seen through a camera lens is amazing. Just reading her complete yearning to capture the perfect moments in life made me want to grab a camera and find out for myself! (and I admit it, I tried!) Mac, being the girl she is, finds love in unexpected places, but welcomes the change from single life to engaged with grace and humor that only Roberts can describe. In this case, opposites truly do attract.

Book #2: Bed of Roses is all about romance, as right from the start seven-year-old Emmaline fantasizes about the perfect romantic moment. Years later, she looks for the perfect man to create that perfect moment and her perfect lifestyle. In true Roberts detail, the reader is sucked into life as a floral designer and the perfection Emma strives to produce for every bride. A romantic at heart, Emma shows us what so few women are open to admit these days - a little (and a lot of) romance is good for the soul.

Book #3: Savor the Moment focuses on the life of Laurel the baker (and a darn good one too! Just ask her) who creates a masterpiece for each and every bride who enters Vows. From basket weave designs to elaborate fillings and setting up a tasting to creating octagonal layers, Roberts made every page mouth-watering. In the romance department, Laurel was equally successful, for the most part. Though she faced normal insecurities about a budding relationship with a life-long friend (and Parker's brother!), she also was concerned about the gossip that ensued over her father's infidelities and trouble with the IRS vs her beau's social status. Holding true to self, Laurel comes to terms with the trouble and becomes the next of the quartet to don a diamond ring.

Book #4: Happy Ever After is sure to be a pleasure as it follows Parker, the master planner at Vows in all her over-enthusiastic, possessive, protective, and controlling tendencies! I, for one, can't wait to see what trouble Parker gets into and how the other three weddings play out. (Can the quartet of friends really pull off planning a wedding while participating in the wedding? We shall see - since they get to do it four times!)

Of course each book also shows us just a peek into what a wedding consultant sees constantly: from the funny moments where ring bearers don't exactly cooperate to the Bridezilla who must have it all! A funny little twist in each of the series that keeps you wanting more - more romance, more weddings, more Nora Roberts!
